WHAT IS A

‘WHITETAIL’?

Launched in 2003, CTC WINGS Integrated ATPL is our fl agship airline pilot career programme - or ‘whitetail’ programme - for tomorrow’s airline pilots. Our ‘whitetail’ trainees and graduates are so-called to liken their fl ying career to the delivery of a brand new aircraft – it has a white tail until selected by an airline. Once selected, our graduates proudly don their wings and uniform. Like the aircraft they will be piloting, they wear the colours of their airline – and they become fully integrated into the world of airline operations. Since the ‘whitetail’ programme was launched, we are proud to have maintained a 98% placement record. Our dedicated graduate placement team has been instrumental in helping over 2,000 of our graduate pilots embark upon fl ying careers with our growing list of Airline Partners. Many of them are now fl ying as Captains and working in pilot management.

We’ve launched several Airline Partner programmes, but a growing number of new airlines are approaching us to fulfi l their pilot recruitment requirements by selecting our CTC WINGS “whitetail” graduates. In this newsletter, we are really excited to be showcasing the ever increasing number of opportunities that exist specifi cally for our CTC WINGS “whitetail” graduates. Now is a really exciting time to become an airline pilot, so here’s to a further 25 years of making even more airline pilot dreams a reality! Read on to discover more…

CELEBRATING 25 YEARS

When CTC Aviation began training new entrant pilots in1995, Monarch Airlines was the very fi rst airline to employ our pilots. Since then, over 150 CTC Aviation graduates have had a fl ying start to their career with Monarch Airlines. Once again, CTC Aviation’s dedicated graduate placement team is facilitating co-pilot placements with Monarch Airlines for CTC WINGS ‘whitetail’ graduates. Those who are placed will be ready for operational fl ying on the leading leisure airline’s Airbus A320 fl eet from a number of UK bases as soon as October 2015! When you train with CTC WINGS, your career outcome with an airline is our priority. Those who complete their airline pilot training through our CTC WINGS Integrated ATPL ‘whitetail’ Route are put forward for airline placement as they approach the fi nal stages of their training.

Our employment success rate remains unrivalled – we secure co-pilot placement with our Airline Partners for 98% of our graduates. My time here in New Zealand has been fi rst class! You fl y over the most incredible landscapes, from volcanoes to miles of black and white sandy beaches.

I had my fi rst solo fl ight after only three weeks – it’s great how quickly we pick up the skills needed for basic airmanship, which will inevitably become crucial to our careers.

We’ve taken a road trip north of Auckland to the Bay of Islands - four days of lying on the beach, kayaking from island to island. It’s so varied out here, from the quirky cities like Auckland and Wellington, to the scenic

coastline - from which you are never too far away. Our CP (course group) has even formed a football team and we play in the local Sunday league!

The circuit trips have been the most challenging part of training and therefore the most rewarding so far. It is extremely satisfying when it all clicks into place - talking to air traffi c control and keeping a constant lookout for other aircraft. It’s these challenging situations which made me choose this career path. You feel lots of responsibility when fl ying as pilot-in-command, which is great training for what lies ahead.
