• Sancerre is a small village in the Loire Valley, about 100 miles south of Paris
• There are 14 communes in Sancerre
• 3 types of soil: (1) Oxfordian limestone, sometimes referred to as caillottes or griottes; (2) Kimmeridgian limestone; and (3) silex, better known as flint
• The wine Sancerre is sauvignon blanc is “the truest” expression” of the grape, & is based on the terroir & wine making style of the Loire Valley
• “The most elegant sauvignon blanc that will ever grace your palate”
• Sancerre is characterized by balance, good acidity & the minerality of the region, making it a wonderful companion to food (fish, seafood, goat cheese)
• It is the polar opposite of New Zealand sauvignon blanc!
