CSI TEAMSLAND STEWARDSHIP: focuses on ecological restoration efforts throughout the region. Team members train and recruit volunteer stewards, hold regular stewardship workdays, and assess stewardship needs for the region.

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION: coordinates environmental education opportunities throughout the region. Members provide environmental education activities to schools and families, offer teachers professional development workshops, and connect people to nature.

SMART GROWTH: engages communities in projects focused on green corridor connections, smart stormwater management, and native landscaping that sustain and improve the region’s quality of life.

The Calumet Stewardship Initiative (C.S.I.) Education Team consists of a variety of individuals and organizations in the bi-state Calumet Region that work to promote placed-based environmental education and peoples’ connection to nature.

The Calumet region has a unique mix of high quality natural areas and a rich industrial history. By connecting youth and adults to nature in their backyard, we are working to protect these special places and develop the next generation of conservation leaders.

We come together to promote environmental education in the Calumet region through planning meetings, teacher workshops, and public events.

Do you want to learn about the region’s unique ecology, biology, geology, hydrology, and cultural history, and be equipped with the skills to steward the land? If so, the Calumet Stewardship Initaitive’s Volunteer Leadership Trianing Series is for you!!e Volunteer Leadership Training Series equips participants from all backgrounds with the knowledge and technical skills to be an environmental steward in the Calumet region.Who: Adult learners (18+) Cost: $40 ("nancial aid available)When: Four training sessions and multiple volunteer events will be held on Saturdays between February 22th and April 19th, 2014.
