Welcome to your player invitation pack for the forthcoming 2016/17 season.

The Youth Development Programme provides proven development opportunities for local footballers with potential – opportunities that extend beyond the field of play.

By creating a positive environment and getting to know players, we aim to develop them as rounded individuals with leadership, communication and teamwork skills, while supporting their technical, tactical, and physical development. We hope to create some lifelong memories along the way too!

You will see from the diagram below, where you currently are in the player pathway and the potential routes for progression.

Programme overview

The Foundation aims to develop goalkeepers across our three tier system.

The Elite Player Development Centre (EPDC) offers goalkeepers from U9 to U16 the chance to train twice

a week at a central Norwich venue with selected elite outfield players of similar potential. The EPDC aims to deliver

a development programme across all four corners of the FA’s player development model (Technical, Psychological,

Physical, Social) and is the recognised tier prior to entering the professional academy environment.

The Player Development Centre (PDC) offers goalkeepers from U7 to U16 the chance to receive quality

coaching once a week through a programme based on technical development and competency. Selected players

will be able to access sessions at venues situated in key areas around Norfolk and North Suffolk and have the

opportunity to be selected for representative fixtures.

The Goalkeepers’ Technical Centre (GTC) offers players from U7-U16 the chance to receive quality coaching

once a week through a programme based on technical development and competency. Selected players will be able

to access sessions at venues situated around Norfolk, including Norwich, Dereham, and the FDC @ Flegg, with the

opportunity to progress to the PDC.

Fixture programme

A comprehensive fixture programme forms a vital part of the Elite PDC offer for all players. The games programmeallows players to implement the focused work in training sessions within a match environment whilst also allowingcoaches to develop players’ tactical understanding through in-game coaching.

To date the fixture programme for our Elite PDC has included competitive matches against the following:

CSF Canaries At under 16, the Elite PDC squad becomes the CSF Canaries and play in the Thurlow Nunn U18 Youth League, competing against local semi-professional football clubs. Competing against older teams provides an excellent physical and technical test. The league is played mid-week under floodlights in semi-professional grounds around the county. The aim of the U18s is to provide our U16 players a regular, competitive fixture programme whilst providing players with a well-managed experience in preparation for their next footballing steps.

However the primary focus of the PDC is to deliver a technical training programme to complement existing club football and not all players within the PDC will receive this opportunity.

Progression phase At U13, PDC players will move into the Foundation’s Regional District Development Programme, allowing players to work as a squad and compete against other regions within our competitive fixture programme.

CSF Futsal Scholarship

The Norwich City CSF Futsal Scholarship Programme is an exciting opportunity for young people between the ages of 16-18 to continue both their education and career development through futsal and Norwich City Football Club.

This unique and high quality experience will combine focused, small group educational sessions with our designated BTEC tutor, and the opportunity to train with qualified coaches and the chance to represent Norwich City Football Club in our fixture programme against the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Watford football clubs.

East Norfolk Elite Programme

The East Norfolk Elite Football programme is an outstanding opportunity for young talented footballers between the ages of 16-18 to continue their academic, footballing and career development through East Norfolk Sixth Form College and Norwich City Football Club.

The programme provides the chance for players to combine an intensive 11-a-side football training and college fixture programme with a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, over a two-year period.

Norwich City Canaries (Shadow Squad)

Delivered in partnership with Norwich City FC & Easton & Otley College, the innovative programme will provide an official ‘Shadow Squad’ for the club’s Academy - the Norwich City Canaries - and is designed to support talented young footballers.

The programme is for 16 to 18-year-olds, and combines 11-a-side football development with a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science at Easton & Otley College.

The education provision forms the core of the programme, whilst former Norwich City captain Adam Drury heads up the football element, which sees players representing Norwich CIty FC in the national league against other professional clubs.

Remi Matthews progressed from Gorleston Soccer Skill Centre, to the PDC, into the Norwich City Academy, before signing a professional contract.
