DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is one of the most sought after courses in engineering

these days. With a blend of hardware and software technologies, CSE provides students with the right

expertise needed to flourish in the world of computer technology today.

The department of Computer Science & Engineering at CMR College of Engineering &

Technology provides students with a healthy combination of research and practice. In an Endeavour

to nurture students to cope with the ever changing environment in technology, the department of CSE

aims to give a strong foundation in computer science and problem-solving techniques. The programs

have been planned to offer a blend of computers, communication technologies and other information

retrieving/processing tools so as to provide the student with the requisite know-how for solving real

life problems thereby enabling them to enter the world of opportunities with flying colors and

capitalize the huge IT market.

VISION

To evolve as center of academic excellence in computer science &

engineering by building strong teaching and research environment

MISSION

To offer high quality graduate and post graduate programs in computer science

education and to prepare students for professional career and/or higher studies

globally.

To promote excellence in research & consultancy in related disciplines.

To develop self learning abilities and professional ethics to serve the society.

Linux Botnets on a Rampage

Linux-operated botnet Distributed Denial of Service attacks

surged in this year's second quarter, due to growing interest in

targeting Chinese servers, according to a Kaspersky Lab report

released this week. South Korea kept its top ranking for having

the most command-and-control servers. Brazil, Italy and Israel

ranked among the leaders behind South Korea for hosting C&C

servers, according to Kaspersky Lab.

Google May Paint IoT Fuchsia

A team at Google is working on a new operating system called "Fuchsia," but

details are sparse. Fuchsia "is a new open source project that is not at all

related to Android or Chrome OS," said Google spokesperson Joshua Cruz. He

declined to provide further details about Fuchsia, saying only that "we have

many revolving open source projects at Google."

Big Data and Analytics: Creating New Value

The massive amount of data available from connected devices

creates an unprecedented opportunity for increased optimization

of products and services -- and, consequently, revenue. The deep

investment in big data gathering and analytics is fueled by an

ability to create added value for companies based on actionable

business insights, and for consumers by providing lifestyle

benefits.

Cloud Platforms and the Connected-Device Value Chain

Internet of Things cloud platforms offer device makers and

company the opportunity to greatly expand the value of products

and services. These devices are reshaping the value chain by

altering product design and development, manufacturing,

marketing, supply chain management and service after the sale.

They also generate new support activities, such as product data

analytics and security.

START-UP MAGNET PROJECT

The CMR Group of Institutes and Global Business Incubator organized a start-up magnet project that

provided an opportunity for students to turn their ideas into reality . A team of eminent leaders came under

one roof with a mission to inspire, educate and empower individuals and teams.

The event was divided into 54 hours, where ideas got a shape of a business model. The participants brought

forth the ideas and inspired others to join their teams. Around 150 students participated in this event, and

four ideas were selected with funding and incubation facilities provided by the management of CMR.

Eminent persons like M.V.S. Rami Reddy , deputy director general, UIDAL and Dr.Kudusu from KVIC,

Hyderabad, addressed the students and explained about the various government funding for start-up. The

event also helped in building relationships and created an opportunity to solve real-life problems by getting

in contact with scalable companies. CMRGI secretaty CH.Gopal Reddy said the environment provided at

the project would help students become big entrepreneurs
