Scope

Total sell of the company is 3,624,599.21 taka in July 2012. And the company’s expenses was 4,430,535.01 in July 2012. It has work progress 1,149.32.75 taka. Wastage sell is 1,29,300.00 taka. And the VAT Challan 173,933.48. And the stock of the company was 310631.94 in July.

Objectives

I am doing this project as a part of the course CSC401. I am analyzing the company to understand how the company runs and how its all function run. After analyzing all the details I will pursue to write a software for the company to maintain its all inventory, profit, income and texts. Using that software the company can run its business pretty much easily and can see all the reports and can update and delete expenses.

SWOT

Strength: Since the company is located in Gazipur, the company will get all the flexibility of transportation, export and import. And the company will reach product to the consumer easily and that will reduce the transportation cost as a result the company can utilize the extra transportation cost to increase production and also increase the annual income. Moreover, the company has started production in 1985, and it has occupied a big demand out on the market.

Weakness: Any other parallel company stands with the same production. If the company produce product with a low cost and deliver into the market then this is certainly a reason to bring down the company production.

Opportunity: The Company is about 40 years old. As a result, the company has idea about the customer demands and the consumer review. So the experiences of the company would give a notion of estimated yearly production and benefit. And the company can use its early customer review to what the consumers need and how they want to see the next product coming on the market and develop their product quality with the demand of customers.

Threat: Political effects are one of the great. The threats are political unrest and strike are the vulnerable issue for a company. These issues are responsible to make late in delivery of the products to the customer on time as well as make delay in transportation of the products. Since the company is many years old, the machineries are not hundred percent workable and which is responsible for low rate of production. If the company does fail to understand the market demand, certainly that is a fatal threat for the company. If the company does not introduce new technology and idea with the existing parallel company, then all the company would lose faith from the customer.

Methodology (SDLC / Prototype)

System development life cycle (SDLC)

Advantage of SDLC: This is a detailed development process. For an information system project that is initiated, the overall data requirements of the proposed information system must be analyzed. This is done in two stages. First during the planning phase, to outline the scope of data involved in this particular development project without consideration of what databases already exist. Only high level categories of data (entities) and major relationships are included at this point. This step in the SDLC is critical for improving the chances of a successful development process. This better the definition of the specific needs of the organization, the closer the conceptual model should come to meeting the needs of the organization, and the less recycling back through the SDLC should be needed. In this model all the organizational data that must be managed. Hence, all the categories of data are listed, every business relationship between data entities is represented, and every rule that dictates the integrity of the data is specified, subsequent SDLC activities may find missing elements or errors when designing specific transactions, reports, display, and inquiries.

Disadvantage of SDLC: This is a time consuming process but comprehensive. And it is a long development process.

Alternative development approach (Prototyping)

Advantage of Prototyping: Rapid application development (RAD) or prototyping is an iterative process of rapidly repeating analysis, design, and implementation steps until they converge on the system the user wants. These RAD methods works best when most of the necessary database structure already exist, and hence for systems that primarily retrieve data, rather than for those that populate and revise database.

So I am going to choose the prototyping model for this project because that is a rapid application model and that is a conceptual data model which is easy to develop in a short time. I can define database during development of initial prototype. The database software can be improved over the time based on the user reviews. As well as, all the user needs can be full filled and next version can be improved listening to the user demand.
