SPARSH An Employee Assistance ProgramCSC in India has recently launched an employee assistance program (EAP)

called SPARSH exclusively for its employees and their immediate family

    members, absolutely free of cost.

Employees today are faced with tremendous stress on various accounts likework pressure, work-life balance and relationship issues. Many times, they do not

share their problems with anyone especially at work for the fear of being judged.

The bottom-line is that they are stressed and it affects their productivity.

CSC in India, the average age of an employee is 28 years; with a young workforce, the issues are

anifold. Through the EAP, counseling services would be provided by qualified and experienced counselors

employees on a whole gamut of issues they face while going through life. Sometimes just talking the

oblem out without the fear of being judged can be cathartic. The EAP would also reaffirm CSCs

mmitment towards the well being of employees.

ne to One Help: A Bangalore based organization has been identified to take this initiative forward. It

ovides counseling services to companies as well as individuals. SPARSH will help the employees meet

s challenges in a safe and secure environment. They can talk to a counselor from One to One Help about

y personal, relationship, work related or parenting issues that may be bothering them. They can get neutral

d objective professional advice on various issues like anger management, dealing with stress,

yness/loneliness/lack of self-confidence, relationships, pre-marital and marital concerns, workplace

ationships, and parenting concerns. SPARSH will help them understand themselves and their problem

    mpletely.

e interaction with the counselors is strictly confidential. All transactions on the One to One Help Web site

ize secure technology to protect privacy and prevent any unauthorized access to information.

e launch of this program was a huge success with employees getting high quality of service regarding their

    evances.

    Rendezvous with Marwan R Shishakly

arwan Shishakly, vice president - Global Solutions and Technology (GST), together with Terri Staton,

ector - Planning and Support GST visited CSC in India during second week of September 2006. It was his

st trip to India after joining CSC and his fourth visit to India overall.

The main purpose of his visit was the team here. Mr.

Shishakly says, Currently, there are 130 people in GST

India. It is a much better team and we will continue to grow

through the year. He also wanted to know their work,

what their capabilities are and give them a specific

mandate of what India region is required to do. During

their five days stay in India, they visited Hyderabad and

    Agra.

Indias contribution towards CSCs growth in GIS space, Marwan says, CSC in India is directly

ntributing to GIS growth in many ways. Projecting forward, India manifests in its disciplined capabilities,

ality processes, complete resource management practices and quality work.

s key message to the CSC in India employees was that they should know what they want to be as a partCSC. The type of transactions they execute should be well because the value of business is measured

cheaper cost of labor and offerings. People in India should support the global team in defining and

ecuting strategies in GST areas from organizational point of view.

asking about the image that he would carry back with him, he says, I came here with a positive image

d also going back with the same image. I have worked with people here and benefited from them. The

y difference is that I have a more complete understanding of people and what they can do individually. I

d good expectations and so was not surprised with the work of the Indian team. Hyderabad is a very

erent city built well, modern and hi-tech. People here are very enthusiastic and should help ignite rest

us. Overall, the trip was very useful.

Bob Riddler Visits CSC in Chennai and Hyderabadb Riddler, the Account's Application Solutions Manager (ASM) for Europe visited the newly established

SC Chennai centre during the last week of August. It was his second visit to India.

e purpose of the visit was to create awareness among the

oject team about the productivity clause in the client-CSC

ntract. There were sessions on 'Productivity Index (PI)'

nducted by Bob, to stress on the importance of PI.

met a lot of people and got a real feel for the capability

d professionalism of the teams. To this, he adds, It was a

eat opportunity to meet such a wide cross-section of the

ent account community particularly as so much of our

ccess is dependent on CSC in India.

hen asked about the image of India he would carry back

h him, Bob says, As ever, the main impressions were

ound the 'buzz' in the offices, the 'can do' attitude, the

eling of competence that is everywhere from the canteens

the factory floors and the inquisitiveness of the people

ending my training sessions: many of the most relevant

estions I was asked across four countries came from the

    dian teams.

b's profound knowledge of the details in the client-CSC
