50,845 carriers with at least one Alert in a public BASIC

•1,281,888 motor carriers listed in Census database
•764,424 motor carriers in the SMS database (Active carriers that fall under the authority of the FMCSA, i.e, interstate and intrastate hazmat)
•90,873 have sufficient inspection data to generate a CSA Score in any BASIC (11.88% of active carriers)
•50,845 have an Alert in at least one public BASIC (6.65% of SMS, 55.9% of those with sufficient data)
•4,991,786 drivers employed by SMS carriers(at the 764,424 carriers, as reported on aggregate MCS-150). Average MC size = 6.53 drivers, yet 96.2% of carriers>6 drivers are those measured…87,434 carriers)
•2,742,077 drivers employed by the 90,873 who are in the crucible of CSA (54.93% of drivers are in the spotlight of CSA)
•Fatigued Driving is the number 1 Alert BASIC (28,133 Alert Carriers)
•Crash & Cargo account for over 25% of Alerts for Vigillo Customers (not reported in public BASICs)

3. 2012 CSA Crash Panel“Among the things you’ll see…will be a proposal for a crash accountability process,” she said. It will allow a carrier to tell the agency it is not responsible for a certain crash. FMCSA will then analyze the crash and assign accountability based on its determination of fault.
