We are currently working on holiday themed baskets. We are in need of Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, and Thanksgiving items. Please drop off your items in the Elementary Office. If you have any questions, contact Michele Vairo at (954) 263-5709 or via her email at [email protected]
Victoria Slader, CSCA Senior Class of 2013, has been invited to participate in a 3-Day intensive dance program February 16-18 in New York City. A Crusader for 11 years, Victoria has 12 years of dance experience and is currently a blogger and writer for Camp Broadway.com
Victoria will be a participant as well as interviewing the other dancers, teachers, and choreographers involved in the program. We will celebrate Amelia Bedelia Day on January 29th!
The first book of Amelia Bedelia was published 50 years ago!
Look for Amelia Bedelia in the Media Center!
Biography of the Author of Amelia Bedelia BooksThe author of nearly 50 books for children, Margaret Cecile "Peggy" Parish is best known for her 11-book series for young readers about Amelia Bedelia, the prepos-terously literal housekeeper for the Rogers family. On her first day of work (Amelia Bedelia, 1963), the maid dusts with dusting powder and sketches the drapes when asked to draw them. In Play Ball, Amelia Bedelia (1972), the obvi-ous traps in baseball terminology, from stealing bases to running home, inevitably tickle beginning readers.
Parish created other series around likable adults, like Gran-ny Guntry and Aunt Emma. A sweet old pioneer with a gun that does not shoot, Granny manages to get just what she wants despite brushes with danger (Granny and the Des-peradoes, 1970). Everybody tries to tell Aunt Emma what to do, but events justify her own desires (The Cat's Burglar, 1983). Parish also wrote some nonfiction and craft books, but her great contribution to children's literature was to make reading fun.
