Each writer may choose to write a story, essay, play, or poem. This year our BCA com-

Crusaders Move 2018

The BCA “Crusaders Move” Physical Activity Club, is a fitness incentive program designed to

promote exercise of at least 60 minutes a day. Our school encourages students to set fitness goals in a

community based setting and we as a school, will recognize student achievement at specified levels of

physical activity. Crusaders Move is not designed to be competitive but is designed for the enjoyment

and fellowship of BCA families. Below is some important information that will be beneficial to you and

your family.

When is the Physical Activity Club? – We will officially kick off the club with a school

wide celebration on April 9th at 2:00. The program will finish on May 4th.

Where does it take place? – You can be physically active anywhere! Here at school or at

home in your community. If you are being physically active, record it on your student

activity sheet. A copy of the activity sheet was sent home with your child last week.

What is the student activity sheet? – Anytime you are participating in physical activity

away from school, you must record your child’s name, the adult supervising the activity,

the date, the amount of time (in minutes) that you participated, and the specific activity

you participated in. Your child’s teacher will collect your student activity sheet once a

week to record your totals. Your teacher will decide what day the student activity sheet

is due.

Does physical activity at school count towards my goal? – Yes, while your child is at

school they are receiving time to be physically active. Your child’s teacher will be respon-

sible for recording their minutes while they are in school. Your child’s teacher will collect

your student activity sheet once a week and combine the data to keep track of the total

number of minutes your child has been physically active. We will have a buddy walk held

on 4/18 and 4/26. A buddy walk will allow our older students to pair up with younger stu-

dents to exercise together. This is always a lot of fun for our students!

Does it have to be supervised? – Yes, the goal of the program is to encourage exercise and

quality time with your family. Supervision by a family member or qualified adult also

ensures the child’s safety and health while exercising.

Do I have to set a fitness goal? – You are encouraged to set a goal to help you develop the

habit of participating in physical activity. Each elementary child will receive a token and

necklace when they reach 10 hours of physical activity. They will receive additional to-

kens for every 5 hours of activity. A medal is awarded for 35 hours and trophies are

awarded at 50, 75, and 100 hours. These medals and trophies will be awarded on the last

day of school at our annual awards ceremony.

Nutrition – You are encouraged to pack nutritious snacks for your child during the week. If

your child brings a healthy snack to school each day, they will receive an extra token for

the week. Healthy snacks would include fruits (apple), vegetables (carrots), and dairy

products (yogurt). Your child’s teacher will keep a record of when your child has a

healthy snack.

We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to inspire your children to be healthy,

physically active, and spend quality time together. Together, we can build stronger bodies and minds to

be used by God to glorify him. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this program, please use

my email below. I’m looking forward to seeing what amazing things you do!
