There was some hail damage to crops, gardens, house roofs and vehicles. It was hard to measure the rain with the strong winds blowing. A lot of tree limbs littered the streets after the storm. We thank all those who worked on Sunday to clear the debris. The Father’s Day dinner held Sunday at the former Masonic Hall/Opera House was attended by many people. Plenty of food for everyone. The Sunflower Senior dinner was held June 10 at the senior center. Tables were laden with delicious food. Enjoying the meal were: Agnes Wahlmeier, Carol Carter, Linda Spresser, Doreen Wahlmeier, Diane Carter, Eleanor Morel, Teresa Reyher, Arlene Sharp, Kenny Krizek, Rachel Carter, Stan and Ramona Shaw, Louise Cressler, Alan Carter, Clayton Carter, Jacinta Carter, Denise Carter and children Can- dace, Sidney, Rayna, Quinnley, Abe, Vincent and Isador, and Jordyn Fleckenstein. Following the meal the children played several piano solos and sang the song “Let It Go” from the musical Frozen. We thank Diane Carter for working with her grandchildren so that we might enjoy them at our Senior Center. Playing cards at the center on Wednesday were : Ramona Shaw, Arlene Sharp, Eleanor Morel, Teresa Reyher, Agnes Wahlmeier, Louise Cressler, Carol Carter and Doreen Wahlmeier. Alan Carter, Overland Park, has been visiting his mother, Rachel Carter and other relatives in the Jennings area. Weekend visitors of Wayne and I, were our children, Gwen and Jeff Anderson, Council Grove, Kan.; Russell and Mary Cressler, Bison, Kan. Last weekend guests at the home of Stan and Ramona Shaw included Matt Armstrong, Joplin, Mo.; Steve Parker and Dillon, Joplin, Mo.; Brandon Wagon- er, Noah and Neomi, Granby, Mo.; Colleen Wagoner, Sharon Springs. Jeff and Mary Wahl- meier, rural Clayton visited with the group Sunday evening. Those enjoying a weekend campout at the Wilson Lake for Father’s Day included Stan and Ramona Shaw; Tom Neff and Chris Gillespie, Marion; El- liott and Tamara Gillespie, Alex and Emma, Belton, Mo.; Aaron and Tara Gillespie, Jackson and Greyson, Hays; Kevin and Col- leen Wagoner, Sharon Springs, Kan.; Brandon Wagoner, Noah and Neomi, Granby, Mo.; Lisa Bollers, Tyce and Tenley, Stras- burg, Colo.; Jeff and Mary Wahl- meier, rural Clayton; Nick and Kerrie Wahlmeier, Trenton and Kyndal, Oberlin; Adam Wahl- meier and Sierra Black, Norton; and Matt Armstrong, Joplin, Mo. Milo Flaska, San Francisco, Ca- lif. visited at the home of Bob and Neoma Tacha on Monday June 16. Helen and Keith Muirhead are enjoying their daughter Teffani Zadeh and grandchildren Natalia and Dylan, Chicago, Ill. visiting this week. Kurt Brown and children Mil- lie and Dasiell from Quinter are visiting his parents Doyle and Kay Brown over the weekend. Graveside services were held Thursday June 19th at the Jen- nings cemetery for Ruth Rich- ardson, mother of Shane New, Jennings and Shelley Franco, Clayton. Sympathy is extended to all of the family. Word was received that Jane Kersenbrock, Norton, had died on Thursday. Her husband, Jack Kersenbrock, was a pastor in Jen- nings in the 1960’s. Sympathy is extended to Jack and the entire family. Services were held July 1 at the Norton United Methodist Church. Our minister, Ed Wood, will be gone from the pulpit through July and the first Sunday in August for he will be attending some school- ing. Plans are being made to hold Sunday School class at 11a.m. on Sunday, July 6. Plans will be an- nounced later for the remaining Sundays while he is gone. Playing cards on Wednesday at the Sunflower Senior Center included: Agnes Wahlmeier, El- eanor Morel, Louise Cressler, Alice Mizer, Diane Carter, Linda Spresser, Arlene Sharp, Stan and Ramona Shaw. Hot summer weather has returned to western Kansas. After the cool days and nights of last week we are really noticing the heat. Visiting Wayne and I over the weekend were our granddaughter, Jessica and Ben Lemmons and great-grandchildren, Gabe, Josie and Daniel from Manhattan. We appreciated Ben mowing and trimming our lawn while he was here. Sunday evening they left for Colo. where they will meet up with Ben’s siblings to vacation in the mountains this week. Playing cards at the Sunflower Senior Center on Wed. included; Arlene Sharp, Eleanor Morel, Diane Morel, Agnes Wahlmeier, Linda Spresser, Louise Cressler, Stan and Ramona Shaw. Our Senior potluck dinner will be held on Wed. this week instead of on Tuesday and cards will be played afterwards. Visiting Alfred and Betty Cressler Sunday were their son Don and Tricia Cressler and family from Norton. Jane and Jim Wahlmeier , Concordia came this weekend to celebrate Jane’s Mother’s birthday. Allan Carter, Overland Park, is here helping Kenneth Carter in the harvest field. The family enjoyed a birthday supper on Friday and lunch at the Kenneth and Julie Carters on Saturday. The church service on Sunday was a study of the book “Facing Your Giants” by Max Lucado. The book is based on the story of David and Goliath from the Bible. The study will continue next Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Come even if you missed the first session. Julie Carter led the study. The Jennings area received a hail and strong wind storm Satur-day evening. There was some hail damage to crops, gardens, house roofs and vehicles. The Father’s Day dinner held Sunday at the former Masonic Hall/Opera House was attended by many people. Plenty of food for everyone.

The Sunflower Senior dinner was held June 10 at the senior center. Tables were laden with delicious food. Enjoying the meal were: Agnes Wahlmeier, Carol Carter, Linda Spresser, Doreen Wahlmeier, Diane Carter, Eleanor Morel, Teresa Reyher, Arlene Sharp, Kenny Krizek, Rachel Carter, Stan and Ramona Shaw, Louise Cressler, Alan Carter, Clayton Carter, Jacinta Carter, Denise Carter and children Can-dace, Sidney, Rayna, Quinnley, Abe, Vincent and Isador, and Jordyn Fleckenstein.
