Crowle students and their families and a warm welcome to those who are new to our school. We are excited to work with you and your children over the coming year. As a school community, we are committed to creating and fostering a warm, caring and supportive educational environment for your child. We strongly believe in and value a community school, where the school is an integral part of the community. We will provide your children with rich learning tasks that challenge their thinking, arouse their curiosity and value their interests and talents. We hope that your child will become engaged in our school activities and try some new things this year; a new sport, join a new club, be a student leader, pick up a new instrument or strive to reach a set goal. Please remember that communication between home and school is key to a successful year. The beginning of the school year is a good opportunity for parents to talk to their children about what they want to improve upon and some steps to take to help achieve those goals. The primary grade student might include a goal of reading every day the junior grade student might be learning time management by breaking down assignments into manageable chunks of work each night and the intermediate student may benefit from a conversation with parents about a time limit on using the internet for purposes other than a task at school. It is extremely important to establish a positive working relationship with your child’s teacher. As always, if you have any questions regarding your child’s progress or well being, please contact your child’s home-room teacher. Parents often ask us what they can do to help their children at home to develop their love of learning. Keep the lines of communication open and show enthusiasm in what they are learning. Instead of doing things for your children, look for solutions to problems and encourage them to be independent. As in previous years, the school newsletters will no longer be distributed. Please visit our website at [email protected] for any upcoming events. We wish all our families a great 2017-2018 school year and we look forward to working with you this year. Welcome back to all returning E.T. Crowle students and their families and a warm

welcome to those who are new to our school. We are excited to work with you and your

children over the coming year. As a school community, we are committed to creating and

fostering a warm, caring and supportive educational environment for your child. We

strongly believe in and value a community school, where the school is an integral part of

the community. We will provide your children with rich learning tasks that challenge

their thinking, arouse their curiosity and value their interests and talents. We hope that

your child will become engaged in our school activities and try some new things this

year; a new sport, join a new club, be a student leader, pick up a new instrument or strive

to reach a set goal. Please remember that communication between home and school is

key to a successful year.

The beginning of the school year is a good opportunity for parents to talk to their

children about what they want to improve upon and some steps to take to help achieve

those goals. The primary grade student might include a goal of reading every day the

junior grade student might be learning time management by breaking down assignments

into manageable chunks of work each night and the intermediate student may benefit

from a conversation with parents about a time limit on using the internet for purposes

other than a task at school.

It is extremely important to establish a positive working relationship with your child’s

teacher. As always, if you have any questions regarding your child’s progress or well

being, please contact your child’s home-room teacher.

Parents often ask us what they can do to help their children at home to develop their love

of learning. Keep the lines of communication open and show enthusiasm in what they are

learning. Instead of doing things for your children, look for solutions to problems and

encourage them to be independent.

As in previous years, the school newsletters will no longer be distributed. Please visit our

website at [email protected] for any upcoming events.

We wish all our families a great 2017-2018 school year and we look forward to working

with you this year. Together we can create the best possible learning environment to en-

hance the achievement of the children we share.

Kiss ’n Ride

Very few E.T Crowle P.S. students are bussed to school, but

we still have vans and busses accessing our bus loop to

drop off students.

Parents familiar with morning traffic know just how congested traffic can

be in the morning in front of the school, in the drop off area in the front. We

strongly encourage students to walk to school.

If you are driving your child to school, please use the Kiss’n Ride in front of

the school. Please be patient, drive slowly and be careful. The Kiss’n Ride is

for drop off only, not parking. Parents should not park the car, leave the

car unattended or wait in that area at any time.

When dropped off, students are escorted to the playground or into the

school as needed. If you wish to park and walk your child into the playground,

please park on a side street and not in the school parking lot. In addition,

please do not block the cross walk area. You need to pay close attention to

street signs as there is very little parking near the school. Many drivers have

been served with parking tickets for parking illegally on the street.

Please remember: the best way to get to school… is to walk!

E.T. Crowle STAFF PARKING LOT

A friendly reminder to parents that

we only have a limited amount of

parking spaces and they are

reserved for staff. We are

encouraging parents to use our Kiss

n Ride or to walk their children to

school.

Reporting Your Child’s Absence You MUST call in your child’s absence! We have a 24 hour absence

reporting line. When you call in please clearly state and SPELL your

child’s name and state their teacher’s name as well. In accordance

with the policy of the Board of Education, if we do not receive a

telephone call, we will attempt to call the parent/guardian or

emergency contacts in order to ensure the child’s safety. If we do not

know where your child is we are obligated to contact the police.

In addition, we would appreciate your assistance in ensuring that your

children arrive at school on time each day. If a student arrives late, it

interrupts the learning process for both the child who is late, as well as

his/ her classmates. Thank you for your support with this matter. In

the event that your child is late, he/she must report to the office for a

late slip before reporting to class. Students who are repeatedly late for

unexcused reasons, will receive a late letter from the office to be

signed by a parent and could receive a detention to make up time

missed.

If your child will be missing school for an extended period of time for

a family holiday or surgery please send a written note to the office

with dates of departure and return.

Thank you for your cooperation.
