February in the Past
Did you know that in .....
1473, Nicolaus Copernicus, who brought the sun to the center of our world, was born. Much like Rupert Murdoch tried to do much later.
1582, the Gregorian calendar was adopted, resulting in the loss of 10 days. A loss of ten days sounds like a good party to me.
1870, Alfred Adler was born. He later brought the Inferiority Complex to the World. Not sure I am worthy enough to tell you that.
1923, King Tutankhamen’s tomb was opened. Say Hi to King Tut.
1935, the polygraph machine was tested for the first time. But I may be telling a lie (no I’m not). (Or am I?) (No!).
1953, Watson and Crick discovered the chemical structure of DNA. I say that because I can’t spell deoxyribonucleic acid.
1984, the circular thing that keeps the pizza from hitting the lid was invented. Yes, it was invented and is called a package saver.
1996, Gary Kasparov loses a regulation chess game to a computer. Later in 1997, the computer won a whole series against the chess champion.
The lighter side
We do not make light of our food at Breezes but here are a few exceptions.
When the waitress in a New York City restaurant brought him the soup du jour, the Englishman was a bit dismayed. "Good heavens," he said, "what is this?""Why, it's bean soup," she replied."I don't care what it has been," he sputtered. "What is it now?"
Ever wonder why we cook bacon and bake cookies?
The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted it on the apple tray: "Take only ONE. God is watching."Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.A child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples."
Editorial
February is the month of Valentine’s Day, a day that has, by tradition, become a day of romance and sharing.
It has also given us a reason for our first of many eveningevents we have planned.
For the lucky few who reserved early, a new Breezes experience awaits with a 3 course meal following a welcome fizzycocktail complete with an hibiscus flower. We know you will enjoy it.
We believe Breezes is a valued part of the community and we have a mission to add to the services available locally, providing a culinary choice to those who don’t wish to travel too far.
We will continue to providelocally sourced, cooked from fresh food and hope that we add that little extra to entice you to come and try us. Your pleasure is our satisfaction.
What is equally important to us is that we hear what you think. A great service is best achieved when it meets what is expected. Let us know what you are looking for in Hill Head and will strive to deliver where and what we can.
