Schreib den Superhit! Begeistere das Publikum mit deiner Musik und gewinne mit deiner Komposition Preisgelder im Gesamtwert von 11.000€ - mach mit beim Crossover Composition Award 2015! Teilnahmebedingungen

1. Teilnahmebedingungen

a) Am Crossover Composition Award (CCA) können Komponisten des In- und Auslands aller Altersstufen teilnehmen.

b) Einsendeschluss für den CCA 2015 ist der 8. Juli 2015. Es gilt das Datum des

Poststempels bzw. das Eingangsdatum der Email samt aller Anlagen.

c) Finale und zugleich Preisträgerkonzert ist der 25. September 2015 um 20 Uhr. Austragungsort: Anna-Reiß-Saal im REM, Straße: D5 in 68159 Mannheim.

d) Das Werk muss für den CCA und für das Violinduo „The Twiolins“ (Marie-Luise und

Christoph Dingler) geschrieben worden sein. Dauer: ca. 5 min. Besetzung: 2 Violinen. Adaptionen oder Arrangements sind nicht zulässig.

e) Im Mittelpunkt soll der Gedanke an das Publikum stehen. Der Komponist soll an die

elementaren Gefühle und Emotionen der Menschen appellieren und/oder mit virtuosen Spieltechniken, Neuerungen, Einsetzen von Stimme oder Sprache o.ä. beeindrucken. Hierbei sind der Phantasie keine Beschränkungen bzw. Vorgaben gesetzt. Auch langsame Kompositionen sind erwünscht.

f) Die eingesandte Komposition darf bis zum Finale weder im Druck erschienen noch

einem Verlag zur Drucklegung angeboten worden sein. Bis zum Finale darf die Komposition weder öffentlich aufgeführt noch einem anderen Ensemble zur Verfügung gestellt worden sein.

g) Der Komponist bestätigt mit der Einsendung seine alleinige Urheberschaft.

h) Es soll die Partitur (keine Einzelstimmen!) als Dateiexport aus dem Notensatz-

Programm bzw. Scan eines leserlichen Manuskripts im DIN A4 Hochformat als PDF-Datei eingesandt werden oder in einem anderen gängigen Dateiformat bzw. als eindeutig nummerierte Reihe von Bilddateien. Das DIN A4 Hochformat wird von Seiten

des Wettbewerbs dringend empfohlen, andere Formate sind jedoch auch möglich.

i) Die Noten müssen mit dem Titel der Komposition versehen sein.

j) Die Noten dürfen NICHT den Namen des Komponisten enthalten sondern stattdessen nur mit einem Codewort (Chiffre) gekennzeichnet sein. Dieses Codewort ist eine beliebige Folge von Kleinbuchstaben und Zahlen ohne Sonder- oder Leerzeichen, die der Komponist selbst wählen soll (Beispiel: xv123abc). Somit bleibt die Komposition für den weiteren Wettbewerbsverlauf anonym und ist zugleich eindeutig gekennzeichnet.

k) Mit der Einsendung ist pro Komposition eine Bearbeitungsgebühr von 12€ zu

entrichten, wahlweise via SEPA-Überweisung oder Paypal-Zahlung. Die Angabe des gleichen Codeworts im Zahlungsbetreff ist dabei unbedingt notwendig. Bitte direkt nach der Zahlung eine Zahlungsbestätigung als Screenshot / Scan speichern, bei der Zahlungsempfänger, Datum, Betrag und Codewort ersichtlich sind.

m) Alle per Post eingesandten Noten und Unterlagen können aus organisatorischen Gründen nicht zurückgesandt werden.

n) Pro Einsendung kann auch mehr als eine Komposition eingereicht werden. Bitte das

gleiche Codewort auf allen eingesandten Kompositionen vermerken. Bitte für jede Komposition eine separate Datei erzeugen. Bitte alle Kompositionen und Anmeldeunterlagen in einer Email senden bzw. beim Nachsenden einer weiteren Komposition alle Anmeldeunterlagen erneut anhängen. Von Seiten des Wettbewerbs wird sichergestellt, dass die erste Instanz der Jury nicht mehr als eine Komposition des gleichen Komponisten für das Finale nominieren kann. Die Anonymität des Verfahrens wird durch eine dritte, unabhängige Person gewährleistet.

o) Die erste Instanz der Jury besteht aus dem Violinduo „The Twiolins“ (Marie-Luise und

Christoph Dingler) und aus verschiedenen Personen des Musiklebens, die für jeden Wettbewerb neu ernannt und auf der Website des Wettbewerbs bekanntgegeben werden. Zusammen werden die eingesandten Werke besprochen und sechs Kompositionen für das Finale nominiert. Die Finalisten werden per Email benachrichtigt und auf der Website veröffentlicht.

p) Das Publikum beim Finale bildet die zweite Instanz der Jury. Die nominierten Werke

werden mit Buchstaben A-F bezeichnet und in zufälliger Reihenfolge präsentiert. Das Publikum allein stimmt über die Preisvergabe ab. Die höchste Stimmzahl bestimmt den 1. Preis, die zweithöchste den 2. usw. Die Zuordnung zwischen Komposition und Komposition wird erst bei der Preisvergabe bekanntgegeben.

q) Mit der Einsendung verpflichtet sich der Komponist, den Titel seiner Komposition nicht

an dritte zu nennen oder auf irgendeine Art und Weise zu veröffentlichen und zwar bis zum zweiten Teil des Finales am 25. September 2015. Beide Instanzen der Jury sollen nur über die Komposition selbst abstimmen und nicht durch den Namen des Komponisten oder dessen Lebensdaten beeinflusst werden.

r) Die Entscheidung der Jury sowohl erster als auch zweiter Instanz sowie die Auszählung

sind unanfechtbar. Der Rechtsweg ist ausgeschlossen.

s) Die Anwesenheit beim Preisträgerkonzert der für die Endrunde nominierten Komponisten ist Pflicht. Kann ein Komponist nicht zum Preisträgerkonzert kommen, scheidet sein Werk aus und ein anderes rückt nach. Falls sich ein Komponist zu diesem Zeitpunkt außerhalb des europäischen Kontinents befindet, entfällt die Anwesenheitspflicht. In diesem Fall muss er per Videoschaltung via Skype für die Dauer des Finales erreichbar sein.

t) Inverlagnahme: Die Gewinner des Wettbewerbs

haben die Möglichkeit, ihren Wettbewerbsbeitrag beim renommierten Verlag Peer Music zu veröffentlichen.

Dafür ist die Einverständniserklärung im Anmeldeformular anzukreuzen. Für die Inverlagnahme gelten die Bedingungen des DMV-Standardvertrags, im einzelnen wie



folgt: Demnach wird die Peermusic (Germany) GmbH den Preisträgern des Wettbewerbs die Druck-Veröffentlichung ihrer Werke in handelsüblicher Form ermöglichen. Voraussetzung ist dabei, dass die entsprechenden Wettbewerbsbeiträge dann bei Peermusic Germany GmbH verlegt werden. Es handelt sich um die üblichen Vertragsbedingungen im Musikverlagsbereich, d.h. dass die Autoren Peermusic eine Vorlage des Musikwerkes (nachfolgend auch Werk) zur Verfügung stellen, nach dem dann die Noten erstellt werden, bzw. zur Veröffentlichung aufbereitet werden. An dem musikalischen Werk werden dann Peermusic (Germany) GmbH die exklusiven, weltweiten Rechte für die Dauer der gesetzlichen Schutzfrist zur Auswertung eingeräumt. gem. des Vertrages des Deutschen Musikverleger Verbandes. Diese Rechte umfassen: das Recht, die Noten des Werkes bzw. das Werk selbst zu vervielfältigen und zu verbreiten, d.h. zu verkaufen, online zugänglich zu machen. Mit umfasst von der Rechtseinräumung sind die Aufführungsrechte, das Senderecht, das Recht zur Vervielfältigung auf Tonträgern und deren Verkauf, einschließlich des Rechts der öffentlichen Zugänglichmachung im Internet, das Recht, das Werk mit Filmen zu verbinden, das Recht, das Werk mit Werbung zu verbinden, das Recht, das Werk zu bearbeiten. Soweit der Autor des Werkes Mitglied der GEMA ist, werden die Rechte der Vervielfältigung für Tonträger, die öffentliche Zugänglichmachung, die öffentliche Aufführung und Sendung gemeinsam in die GEMA eingebracht (sogenannte "GEMA" Rechte), solange die GEMA diese Rechte wahrnimmt. Soweit die Rechte von der GEMA wahrgenommen werden, erhält der Autor seine Vergütung direkt über die GEMA. Alle anderen Vergütungen werden von Peermusic (Germany) GmbH an den Autoren ausgezahlt wie folgt: Für verkaufte Notenexemplare beträgt die Beteiligung 10 % vom Netto-Verkaufspreis. Für solche Rechte, die grundsätzlich als "GEMA"-Rechte bezeichnet werden, findet der Verteilungsschlüssel der GEMA Anwendung, selbst wenn der Autor nicht oder nicht mehr Mitglied der GEMA ist, d.h. für mechanische Vervielfältigung: 60% Autor und 40% Peermusic (Germany) GmbH, für Aufführung und Sendung bei GEMA-Mitgliedschaft: 8/12 Autor und 4/12 Peermusic (Germany) (nur bei GEMA-Mitgliedschaft des Autoren!) Alle sonstigen Einnahmen (insbesondere Synchronisationseinnahmen, Werbeeinnahmen) teilen die Parteien 50/50.

u) Im Zweifelsfall gilt die deutsche Fassung der Satzung.

Crossover Composition Award Der Wettbewerb Frischen Wind in die Kammermusikszene bringen und die Klassik neu beleben – das war das Ziel von Marie-Luise & Christoph Dingler (The Twiolins), als sie den Crossover Composition Award ins Leben riefen. Der Wettbewerb wird alle drei Jahre durchgeführt, um das Repertoire für die Besetzung zwei Violinen zu erweitern. In den Jahren 2009 und 2012 erfreute er sich mit jeweils ca. 100 teilnehmenden Komponisten aus 16 Ländern einer großen Resonanz. Die Ausschreibung fordert Musik, “die unter die Haut geht und das Publikum zu Begeisterungsstürmen hinreißt”. Ob virtuose Effekte oder große Emotionalität – die Komponisten haben musikalisch freie Hand. Einzige formale Vorgabe: Das Werk soll ca. 5min dauern. Die Art der Wettbewerbsausschreibung ist bewusst offen gestaltet, um neuartige Musik mit zeitgemäßen Emotionen entstehen zu lassen. Diese Stilvielfalt soll zu einer nachhaltigen Weiterentwicklung des klassischen Konzerts und Publikums beitragen. 2015 findet der dritte Crossover Composition Award (CCA) statt und die Erfolgsgeschichte, die im Jahr 2009 begann, wird fortgesetzt. Publikumsentscheid Beim CCA wird das Publikum direkt in den Ablauf des Wettbewerbs eingebunden. Nach einer Vorauswahl durch eine repräsentative Jury, bestehend aus etablierten Musikern, Komponisten und Dirigenten (Prof. Christoph Poppen, Prof. Sidney Corbett, Aleksey Igudesman u.a.), kommt es zum großen Finale: Sechs Werke werden durch die Twiolins uraufgeführt und das Publikum (300-400 Besucher) entscheidet anschließend über die Preisvergabe. Ablauf Die Ausschreibung erfolgt alle drei Jahre zum 1. Januar (2009, 2012, 2015, …). Nach dem Einsendeschluss am 1. Juli werden die eingesendeten Werke von der Jury gesichtet und sechs Stücke ausgewählt. Ende September kommt es zum großen Finale in Mannheim:

• In der ersten Hälfte werden die sechs ausgewählten Kompositionen dem Publikum als Uraufführung durch die Twiolins präsentiert. Komponist und Titel werden dabei nicht genannt, die Reihenfolge wird ausgelost.

• Das Publikum wählt per Stimmzettel seine Favoriten, die Auszählung erfolgt in der Pause. • Im zweiten Teil des Finales werden die Ergebnisse bekanntgegeben und die Preise

verliehen. Zum Abschluss wird das Werk des ersten Preisträgers nochmals aufgeführt.

Nachhaltigkeit Die Gewinner, oft junge Komponisten, erhalten als Fördermaßnahme Preisgelder im Gesamtwert von 11.000€. Die Kompositionen werden von renommierten Verlagen international veröffentlicht: 2012 und 2015 Peer Music, 2009 Ries&Erler. Außerdem werden sie von den Twiolins auf CD eingespielt: 2011 „Virtuoso“, 2014 „Sunfire“.

Conditions of Participation

1. Conditions of participation

a) National and international composers of all age are welcome to participate at the Crossover Composition Award.

b) Deadline: Your application must be postmarked / emailed no later than 8th July 2015.

c) Finale and final concert of the Nominees is the 25st September 2015 in REM-Museum Mannheim, Germany.

d) The composition must be composed for the Crossover Composition Award and the

violin-duo “The Twiolins” (Marie-Luise and Christoph Dingler). Form: ca. 5 minutes. Orchestration: 2 violins. Adaption or arrangements are not permitted.

e) The composer should always keep in mind to appeal to the audience as well with

his/her piece and create an accessible composition evoking emotions and/or impressing with virtuosic playing techniques, innovations, using voice or speech or similar assets. At this, your imagination is not limited by any constraints or requirements. Slow compositions are welcome, too.

f) All compositions submitted must not haven been released in printed or published

form or even offered to a publisher for printing before the finale. Also, the compositions must not haven been performed in public or even provided to any other ensemble before the finale.

g) By submitting the composition, the composer confirms his exclusive creatorship.

h) Only the score should be submitted, no separate parts! Please submit only the score (no separate parts are needed) as a file-export from your music notation software respectively as a scanned document from a readable manuscript. Please use portrait page orientation and DIN A4 format if possible. Please export PDF-files or numbered picture series.

i) The composition has to be marked with a title.

j) The composition must be anonymous, so please do not write your name or pseudonym onto the pages. Instead please only mark it with a KEYWORD (Chiffre). As a codewort please choose a random combination of lower case letters and numbers without special-characters or blanks/spaces (for example: vx123abc). This makes sure that your composition is anonymous and uniquely identified at the same time.

k) At the same time there should be a participation fee of 12€ for each composition

paid via SEPA bank transfer or Paypal. It is mandatory to note your KEYWORD in the payment subject. Please print out and scan your payment verification directly after (the date of the payment, amount, KEYWORD and recipient should be visible) or save it as a screenshot.

n) More than one composition per submission is allowed. Please mark the same KEYWORD on each composition. Please create separate files for each composition. Please summarize all compositions and all necessary documents to one email. If you send a new composition later, please resend the necessary documents again! The competition will make sure, that the first instance of the jury will select not more than one composition of the same composer for the finale. A third independent person will ensure anonymity of this procedure.

and Christoph Dingler) supported by a professional jury nominated for each competition, who will classify the compositions handed in and who will choose a selection of six compositions. After that the finalists will be informed by email and published online.

p) The selected compositions will be presented to the audience (second instance) at the

final concert of the Nominees. The nominated compostions will be assigned the letters A through F and presented in random order .Afterwards, the audience is going to vote for the winner and thereby determines the distribution of prizes. The highest vote determines the first prize; the second highest vote determines the second prize and so on. During the award presentations the corresponding composers will be revealed.

q) By submitting the composer agrees not to reveal the title of his composition to third

parties or to publish it in any form whatsoever at least until the second part of the Nominee concert ("Finale") on September 25th, 2015 has concluded. Both juries should be able to vote without being influenced by the name or resume of the composer.

r) The decision of the jury (first and second instance) and the results of the votes are

final and cannot be challenged legally.

s) For all composers nominated for the final concert it is an obligation to be present at the final concert. If a composer is not able to attend the finale concert, his composition will be withdrawn and another composition will take his place. If the composer finds himself outside the european continent at the date of the concert, he is exempt from attending the concert. Instead he has to be available via video conference (skype) during the concert.

t) Peermusic (Germany) GmbH will agree to publish the prize winners’ works according

to general business rules and regulations. In order to be considered for publishing please check the box on the application form.

The terms of the contract are those customary in music publishing, i.e. the authors will provide Peermusic with a master copy of the musical work (hereinafter also work) on the basis of which the sheet music will be compiled and/or edited for publication purposes. Peermusic (Germany) GmbH will receive worldwide exclusive exploitation rights for the musical work for the duration of the copyright protection



period according to the contract of the Deutscher Musikverleger Verband (German Music Publishers Association). These rights include:

The right to reproduce and distribute the sheet music of the work and/or the work itself, i.e. to sell, make available online. Included in those rights are the performance rights, the broadcasting rights, the reproduction and sales rights for sound recordings including the right to make publicly available on the internet, the right to connect the work with films, the right to connect the work with advertising, the right to edit the work. Insofar as the author of the work is a member of GEMA (or any other copyright society – to simplify matters further called GEMA), the reproduction rights for sound recordings, the right to make publicly available, the public performance and broadcasting rights (so‐called “GEMA” rights) will be jointly ceded to GEMA as long as GEMA makes use of these rights. Insofar as the GEMA makes use of these rights, the author will receive payments directly from GEMA. All other payments will be made by Peermusic (Germany) GmbH to the author as follows: For sold sheet music copies the share in the net sales price is 10%. For all rights known as “GEMA” rights, the distribution key of GEMA will be applied, even if the author is not or no longer a member of GEMA, i.e. For mechanical reproduction: 60% author and 40% Peermusic (Germany) GmbH for performance and broadcasting in case of a GEMA membership: 8/12 author and 4/12 Peermusic (Germany) (only in case of a GEMA membership of the author!) All other revenue (especially from synchronisation, advertising) will be shared 50/50 by the parties. “

u) In case of doubt, it is the German version of the “Teilnahmebedingungen” which applies.

2. Prizes

The 1st prize is awarded with 5.000 Euros. The 2nd prize is awarded with 3.000 Euros. The 3rd prize is awarded with 1.000 Euros. The 4th prize is awarded with 800 Euros. The 5th prize is awarded with 500 Euros. The 6th prize is awarded with 500 Euros.

3. Preview The next Crossover Composition Award is going to take place in 2018.



Crossover Composition Award About the competition Bringing some fresh air in the chamber music scene and reviving the classical music – that was the goal of Marie-Luise & Christoph Dingler (The Twiolins), when they originated the Crossover Composition Award. The competition is held every three years to expand the repertoire for two violins. In the years 2009 and 2012 it has met a positive response with each about 100 composers from 16 countries participating.

The competition is seeking music which “gets under the skin and sweeps the audience off their feet” . Whether using virtuosity or great emotions– it’s the composers’ choice. Only one formal condition: The work should last about 5 minutes.

The Competition rules have been designed flexible intentionally to allow creation of new music with contemporary emotions. This diversity of styles is supposed to contribute to a sustainable development of the classical concerts and audiences.

In 2015 the third Crossover Composition Award (CCA) will take place and continues the success, which started in the year 2009.

Decisions made by the audience During the CCA the audience is directly involved in the running of the competition. After a pre-selection by a representative jury, consisting of established musicians, composers and conductors (Prof. Christoph Poppen, Prof. Sidney Corbett, Aleksey Igudesman u.a.), six finalists advance to the grande finale:

All selected works will be premiered by the Twiolins and the audience (300 – 400 attendees) then votes on the awards.

Course The CCA will be announced every three years starting January 1 (2009, 2012, 2015, …).

After the closing date for entries on July 1st the submitted work will be examined by the jury and six compositions will be chosen to advance. At the end of September there is the grande finale in Mannheim:

• In the first half the six selected compositions will be presented to the audience by the Twiolins in random order. Composer and titles will not be announced.

• The audience votes for its favorites by ballot paper; the counting is done during the break. • In the second part of the finale the results will be announced and the prizes will be

awarded. At the end the work of the first prize winner will be performed again.

Sustainability The winners, often young composers, receive prize money totaling 11.000€ which can support their studies/career. The compositions are published by internationally renowned publishing houses: 2012 and 2015 Peer Music, 2009 Ries&Erler. Additionally they will be recorded on a CD by the Twiolins: 2011 „Virtuoso“, 2014 „Sunfire“.
