He was the son of the late Mabel White Raines and Arthur Raines. Born October 21, 1935 in Montcalm, but grew up in Wyoming County. Bob graduated from Herndon High School, made All-County in both baseball and basketball and All State Honorable Mention in both. An alumnus of West Virginia University, School of Mines 1956 and while at WVU he was a member of the baseball team. Bob's entire career was devoted to the coal industry. He began as an engineer at the Deefield Mine, and then went with Semet-Solvey Division, Allied Chemical Corporation. He left to join Pocahontas Land Corporation in 1966 as a mine inspector and retired in 1995 as President. He was inducted into the Wyoming East High School Hall of Fame and Herndon High School Hall of Fame, both in 2003. He was also inducted into the WV Coal Hall of Fame in 2011. Bob was a member of the Princeton Presbyterian Church, EPC. He is survived by his wife, Brenda B. Raines of Princeton; his daughter, Debora Kay and husband Mike of Mason, Ohio; their children Mike, and Brooke Maze and her husband Mike. Robert Lee Raines, Jr. and his wife Pam of Lyman, S.C.; Michael David and wife Jackie and children, Casey and Jason Mitchell all of Knoxville, Tenn. Granddaughter Kaylee Raines and great grandson Brody Chandler. Bob is also survived by granddaughter Morgan Kelsey Deverin, her parents Michelle and Keith and sisters Myra and Macy. Daughter Janet Lynn Decker and Brenda's son Aaron Jason Dalton preceded him in death. He is also survived by brother Buddy Eugene Raines and wife Judy of Princeton, Jerry Nelson Raines of Princeton; Larry Bruce Raines and wife Sandy of Beckley; and sister RoseAnn Goddard of Bluefield, Va. His sister in law and her husband, Betty Jarvis & Tom of Johnson City, TN and a host of nieces and nephews. His extended family of Dr. Todd Smith and his office staff of Blue Ridge Internal Medicine; his caregivers, Idena Mitchell, Chasity Worth and the staff of Hospice Compassus. On Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 2 p.m., a homecoming service to celebrate the life of Robert L. Raines Sr. will be held in the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Ed Pettus officiating with William S. Winfrey II doing the Eulogy. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of the Wildwood of the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. She was a United Methodist pastor' s wife for over 40 years as well as a loving and dedicated mother to her two children. Anne Conrad Temple Unruh was born in South Hill, Virginia on April 15, 1931. Her parents were Conrad Littleton Temple and Annie Elizabeth Reames Temple. She is survived by her two children James Walker Unruh Jr. from Chapel Hill, North Carolina and LuAnne Unruh from Louisa, Virginia and her sister Mrs. Louise Worsham from McKenney, Virginia. Bill retired from Abbott (Ross Labs Division) with 26 years of service. He donated over 18 gallons of blood to the Red Cross. Bill traveled in all 50 states and also enjoyed gardening, golfing and baseball. He loved being outdoors, watching planes, woodworking, building birdhouses, and spending time with his pets - especially his cats. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia "Cindi" Anne Witt; a daughter, Beth Atkins; a stepson, Jamie Dale Witt; brothers, Charles William Witt and Frank J. She leaves behind her son, Mark Conner and his wife, Jacqueline; two granddaughters, Hannah and Jessica, who brought great joy to her life. Princeton, Monday evening, June 23, 2014 with his devotedwife by his side.

He was the son of the late Mabel White Raines and ArthurRaines. Born October 21, 1935 in Montcalm, but grew up inWyoming County. Bob graduated from Herndon High School,made All-County in both baseball and basketball and All StateHonorable Mention in both. An alumnus of West VirginiaUniversity, School of Mines 1956 and while at WVU he was amember of the baseball team.

Bob's entire career was devoted to the coal industry. Hebegan as an engineer at the Deefield Mine, and then went withSemet-Solvey Division, Allied Chemical Corporation. He left tojoin Pocahontas Land Corporation in 1966 as a mine inspectorand retired in 1995 as President.

Bill served in the Army. Hegraduated from the Universityof Dayton with a Master'sDegree and also the GraduateSchool of Credit and FinancialManagement at DartmouthCol lege. Bi l l received theSilver Beaver Award from theBoy Scouts of America. Hewas a fellow member of TheNational Institute of Credita n d a N o t a r y P u b l i c . B i l lretired from Abbott (RossLabs Division) with 26 yearsof service. He donated over 18gallons of blood to the RedCross. Bill traveled in all 50s t a t e s a n d a l s o e n j o y e dg a r d e n i n g , g o l f i n g a n dbaseball.

Bern ice Hagy Conner ofCharlottesvil le went to bewith the Lord June 19, 2014, atthe Martha Jefferson House.Bernice was born April 20,1930, in Buchanan County,Grundy, to the late Stewarta n d P e a r l N i c h o l s H a g y .B er n i c e was p r ec ed ed i ndeath by her husband of 47years, Jerry Dallas Conner.She was also preceded indeath by three brothers ,James, Jerry and Ralph Hagy;and two sisters, Lena Keenand Rosa Smith.

She leaves behind her son,Mark Conner and his wife,J a c q u e l i n e ; t w ogranddaughters, Hannah andJessica, who brought great joyto her life. Also surviving isone sister, Bess Koehn; andseveral nieces and nephews;and numerous sisters-in-law,including Geneva and MarjorieConner and Juanita Hagy, withwhom she shared a specialbond. And last but not least, aspecial friend Jenny Ryalls her"Green Thumb Cousin".

A memorial service will beheld 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 27,2014, at the F irst BaptistChurch with the Rev. LeonCastle officiating.
