Working inRounds1. Make a short foundationchain (the pattern willdesignate how many, usually 46). Insert hookinto first ch, but instead of
going under the braid, godirectly down into top of chso round lays flat.2. YO; pull through all loops.3. If you are working in sc,make one ch for height (twofor hdc, three for dc, four fortr). Work the number of st
called for by inserting hookinto middle of ring (notinto ch st making up ring).Attach last st to first st withsl st.4. Drape a scrap ofdifferent-colored yarn at
end of row before you startnext one to mark your place.Make one ch for height;work as many sc into topof each st as indicated inpattern. To keep circleflat, make more st in eachconsecutive row (yourpattern will specify howmany).

Pretend that the old andnew yarns are one; YO withboth and insert hook intotop of next st.3. Drop old yarn and YO withnew one. Pull through bothloops on hook.4. Work stitches with newyarn for rest of row. Whenproject is done, go back
