CRISIS/HOSTAGE NEGOTIATOR COURSE (CHNC) COURSE: Crisis/Hostage Negotiator Course (CHNC) 18-22 February 2019 and held @ Cleveland TN SCOPE: To teach identified personnel the skills required when operating as a negotiator within varied environments during high-risk events. The training will include but not be limited to: History and development of crisis negotiations Crisis/hostage negotiation case studies Correction negotiations versus law enforcement The negotiation team and its make-up Roles and responsibilities of the negotiator Mechanics of negotiation Effective listening techniques Measurement of negotiator progress Negotiation techniques Tactical negotiation Tactical liaison roles-responsibilities Planning C/HNT operations Negotiations operations center/NOC (set-up and function) Hostage survival The Stockholm syndrome and its role Tactical operations orientation SECURUS LLC/TATSOR Group "Training at the Speed of Real" 1 of 2 C/HNC SIL In addition the training also includes participation within a high-risk incident scenario on day five of the program that includes operating with a special weapons and tactics team (SWAT). PRE-REQUISITES: The Crisis/Hostage Negotiator Course (CHNC) is designed as a foundation program (TIER I-II) into negotiation TTP’s in various high-risk environments. Attendees should be sworn law enforcement/correction officers or military personnel. In addition the program is designed in such a way that it can provide a robust review for currently trained negotiators looking for an update to their respective skill sets. SPECIAL INFORMATION: The Crisis/Hostage Negotiator Course (CHNC) is performance-oriented training conducted in a low to medium risk environment. To successfully complete the course a student must be in GOOD physical and mental condition, progress through increasingly difficult training requirements and achieve a minimum 80% skills average. The CHNC has numerous exercises, classroom lectures/conferences and graded, must complete blocks of instruction. Attendance at the CHNC does not automatically mandate an attendee will graduate. Each attendee must meet or exceed the training standards highlighted within the program in order to graduate. TN P.O.S.T. # 19-305.

CLASS SIZE/DURATION/COST: Maximum class size is 30. The CHNC is conducted over a 5-day period (60+ hours). Tuition per attendee is $475.00.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: CHNC attendees require the following equipment at a minimum:

PRIMARY INSTRUCTORS: Dr. Strentz is retired from the FBI after a distinguished career within federal law enforcement. He is considered by many as the “Father” of the FBI Crisis/Hostage Negotiation Model/Program and is world-renowned regards negotiation tactics, techniques and procedures. His many books and articles regards negotiation are often times utilized as “how to” materials for negotiators internationally. Dr. Strentz’ operational experience alone provides the background-foundation for negotiation training at the very highest level.

Mr. Sieh’s experience includes 21 years in the U.S. Army (19 in Special Forces-Special Operations) and 20 years as the Owner, Director and Master Trainer of a world-renowned training and advisory company (The TATSOR Group) specializing in providing cutting edge training to the military, law enforcement, corrections and civilian sectors. Mr. Sieh’s storied career includes assignment within Special Forces-Special Operations with two Special Forces Groups, the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center, and School as well as several of the world’s most elite Counter Terrorism Units. In addition he has advised/trained within many of the worlds most elite special operations organizations to include the Border Patrol Special Operations Group (SOG), FBI Hostage Rescue Team (HRT), US Secret Service and a myriad of friendly foreign national level counter terrorism units both military and law enforcement.
