Just a Thought

Faith makes it possible; it does not make it easy!

Join us throughout the season of Lent every Thursday at 7pm and with Class Menagerie Sunday morning during the Sunday School hour. We will be going through this Lenten study of Creed by Adam Hamilton. In this book for Lent, Easter, and beyond, Hamilton considers important questions of life, reality, and truth. He explores not only what Christians believe, but also why they believe it and why it matters. We’re all searching. Sometimes the search is easy: simply type a question and the answer pops up. But sometimes our questions are complicated, and the answers are difficult to see and harder to articulate. How do we discover and examine the truths that give meaning and purpose to life? Adam Hamilton believes that some powerful answers are contained in the Apostles’ Creed, an early statement of foundational Christian beliefs.

Most of us could be characterized as ordinary

people. We are living ordinary lives. It is

nothing to be ashamed of. There is nothing

wrong with being ordinary. Ordinary is normal.

So, our lives are normal. We want food, shelter

and security for our families. We want health

for our children. We are ordinary.

Most of us feel, that since we are ordinary, we

are limited to doing ordinary, or mundane

things in our service to God. However, the

Bible is full of ordinary people. Ordinary people

who are used by God to accomplish

extraordinary things. What would cause us to

believe that God is no longer using ordinary

people to accomplish God’s work?

In this series, we will look at several ordinary

people in the Bible, and explore how God used them in extraordinary ways. The hope is that we will come to

realize that God will use us…ordinary people….to accomplish God’s extraordinary purposes.
