Missing Child
Question #1How does your product use or challenge conventions and how
does it represent social issues or groups?
How does the genre fit the typical standards?
Throughout our film we used suspenseful music, just like any other movie where something bad is going to happen. A non typical standard is that the man who kidnaps the child turns
out to be the biological father.
How does your film represent social issues?
Our movie involves a little boy getting kidnapped from mother. Kidnapping is a huge social issue around the world. There is an
estimated rate of around 800,000 kids going missing a year.
Question#2
How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text
How does the film capture the audience's attention?
The film captures the audience's attention by the music. The music gives you that creepy and suspenseful vibe that makes the viewer scared but intrigued at
the same time. As well as the beginning of the film it shows pictures and moments with the little boy, this makes the viewers want to know what is so
important about this little boy.
How would you get it out to the movie theaters?
By making interesting posters with a perfect snapshot of an intense moment to attract the reader. Also by making
commercials of a mixture of interesting and dull moments throughout the movie all bundled into one scene to show the
plot.
Question #3
How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
Throughout the whole project I learned a lot of useful tactics. Learning to create a film in general.. I never knew how simple but challenging it could be. Putting all the small shots to create a dramatic scene, being able to download
music and uploading it to use as the background.
When everyone started talking about adding titles i got very scared but then once i saw how easy it was, i got the hang of it. I was the one who was in
charge of dealing with all the titles. I was really excited with how they came out for the film.
Adding the film to youtube was so interesting. To everyone else it was hard to upload it and embed it but for me it was a piece of cake. Just finding out that you can add it as an HTML and then it turns into the cover screen of the upload option
really blew my mind for some reason.
Question #4
How did you integrate technologies into this project?
My group and I used a website, called wordpress, to blog all of our progress. Throughout all the time spent filming and editing the film, all of my group members tried to blog almost everything that happened. I was able to customize To edit all our work we used Pinnacle Studios and learned to used a lot of fascinating tools. I enjoyed editing the film because all of the titles, flashes, and jump cuts were fun to make.
I had to use the internet … a lot… I had so many questions about certain topics, so whatever I would forget to ask my teacher, I would just look up. For some of the assignments where I had to look for movies similar to mine I looked up some movies on several movie sites and watched trailers. For one of the movie websites it gave a general description, the trailer, and the opening of the film, which helped a lot to realize the genre and gave my group a general idea of how those type of movies are.
For the assignment where we had to summarize the movie article, the class was able to use one of the websites that gave a long and detailed explanation of the transitions throughout the years of movies. We downloaded music to our computers to be able to use for the film and it helped tie everything together which was really helpful. We also used YouTube when we uploaded the video and learned how simple it was! At first i was not so sure because some people said it was hard but it turned out to be pretty simple and helped for near future events.
