~Introduction to Salon Trunk Show~

• I would like to share with you my experience in having an event, trunk show or party in a salon atmosphere.

• First let me tell you a bit about my experience with salons, I was an owner of a successful nail salon for over 17 years, and I had many functions for my salon clients with great success. They would include the chamber of commerce and dignitaries, some were shows/parties and would include local artists that would bring their wares, gifts and products, others were makup artists that would provide a day of makeup fashion tips and correct application or fashion trunk shows from local boutiques.

• All were for salon promotion, inviting the public to visit our salon and have a chance to become acquainted with our staff.  All were fun ways to create activity and local awareness increasing more traffic for our salon, potential clients and boosting revenues.

So, having a salon party can be an awesome opportunity for you as a bamboopink independent consultant, not only for great sales but an awareness of how you started with this company, your WHY  your venture with this new business and will also be a great way to book future trunk shows.

"Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success." Henry Ford

Creating a Press Packet

•  As a previous salon owner, these are my ideas and suggestions

Creating the press packet...............

• Creating a press packet, purchase a pink 3 ring binder with pockets, then write a press release, (introduction to launching bamboopink) then write an offer to the owner (our hostess benefits and how she can earn some fun jewelry for free.

• In the press letter, you will want to mention that the salon can benefit from hosting a trunk show for you, by creating an awareness and presence for her salon in the community.  Making suggestions that the she could offer her own kind of  specials centered around this event, i.e., (haircut specials, perm & nail specials and suggest an offer of coupon’s and gift certificates, etc.). This gives her another opportunity to promote services within her salon and an introduction of her salon staff.

In the Press Packet...............

• In a report folder add the following to the press packet, you can add to the side pocket the press release from our home office, the letter to the salon owner, and a flyer, the tri fold flyer located in our back-office or that comes with your jewelry box.  I would also include a “Pinks List” for her to make a list of possible attendees.  Include some business cards, and the flyer, “what makes bamboopink special”.  Tickets for others to bring a friend, to encourage great attendance and that there will be a drawing for those attendees.

• An announcement you can write the date on and place in a frame for her to set on reception desk. You can buy an inexpensive one at walmart, target or the dollar store.

• In a report folder add the following:• Bi Fold Flyer• Pinks List• Business Cards• What makes bamboopink special flyer• Hostess Rewards Chart• Post Card pictures• Tickets• Drawing Tickets a place for Name, Phone, Email address

Now the Meeting................

• Find a salon in your area this might be one you frequent already, which helps you are already established as a customer.  If not then find a good size salon, preferably a sole proprietor, rather than a franchise salon as they would have to follow any guidelines that their home office dictates. Salons are always looking for ways to increase local awareness for building their clientele and increase their revenues with little or no cost.

Preparation…………..• In preparation of setting up a salon trunk show you will need time for proper arrangements, giving you and the

owner time to work out the details and to publicize the event.

~Approaching a Salon Owner~

Approaching a Salon Owner~

• Wear your bamboopink jewelry!!• Setting up a date for a meeting with her:• You will need to have a meeting with her, you may

want to call ahead or stop by, when you have your face to face meeting be prepared to offer a choice of dates, have 2 dates for her to choose from, once she has decided a date, let her know how long you will be in the salon on the day of the show, this can be from 2 to 4 hours, give 1 week for preparation, this is enough time to let her current clients know and for her to send invitations, so working closely with her is going to be important to the success of “your show”.  Have your “Look Book” with you and some of the jewelry, so that she can “show and tell” to create the excitement about preparing for her event and for her to share the event with her staff and clients.

• You will bring with you the press packet you created so that you can go over each of the items you have added. This will help answer questions she may have, the easier you make this for her, the more success you both will have in working together for the success of her show.

Hostess Rewards:

• Hostess Rewards:

• Go over the Hostess Rewards sheet, explain:

• If someone books a party how she will benefit from this in the hostess rewards, what the possibilities are on how by being  your hostess she will earn free jewelry.

Salon Communication•  Salon Communication................

• Ask how she communicates with her clients, does she have an email system she uses or mail announcements. If she has an email system you can create an invitation she can forward to her clients, as she might be reluctant to share her client’s information as a courtesy to them. I would also ask if you can help her to send out these invitations so to assure a successful event.

• Once the date is set, you will leave the packet with her that you created, which will give her everything she needs and literature to read and share with her salon staff. Have her get her staff involved to create even more excitement. You can offer to have a drawing for the staff for their participation, again a gift bag.

• Stay connected…………..

• Once you have set a date, you will want to stay in contact with her to find out if she has questions and if she needs anything. Maybe she will run out of tickets, giving you another opportunity to visit her salon, wearing bamboopink jewelry raising client awareness. And the more you contact her the more you both will be comfortable with the Trunk Show Event!! All the more to get the momentum going!!

Page 9: Creation of a Successful Trunk Show for bamboopink

Responsibilities of Both Parties• What are the salon owner’s responsibilities?

• To provide a table to set up your trunk show, be active in communicating with her clients to invite them to the event, or share a contact list for you to do this for you. To post somewhere in her salon a banner, handouts, even a small Look Book, you have created about the event. Provide a small refreshment, wine, cheese crackers, something light.

•  What are your responsibilities?

• Let her know that setting up is your job, you just need a table and small area for display, you will provide an invitation with details she can have to share with her clients and to send invitations and that you will work with her to do so. Don’t rely on her to make your event successful. There are many ways to get the invitations out, through emails or sending them through the mail. Provide her with a small banner for display about upcoming event, brochures, business cards and a Look Book if you like, maybe preorder forms or copies of Style Profile so they can be filled out before you arrive.

• Talk about refreshments, for her to keep these minimal, cookies and punch, wine cheese crackers.

Drawings…………

• Drawings…………

• Setting up the drawings is going to benefit you for possible trunk shows and to add to your customer list for future promotions and sales for bamboopink.

• At the bamboopink Trunk Show.............

• Have your “Look Book” and if you have a laptop computer, find one of the videos to have to play while clients are browsing.

• The products should be made easily accessible to everyone and they should able to touch and feel them so that they can get an idea about the product and its worthiness. You will need to make sure that you stay with your table and display at all times so there is no loss.

• If you need to step away have the salon owner sit with your display while you take a break.

Page 11: Creation of a Successful Trunk Show for bamboopink

How many drawings….

•  3-4 Drawings..............

• Let her know you will set up a drawing for those in attendance and be prepared to draw a name with her for the prize. You will want to contact the person who wins if she is not in salon at time of drawing.

Day or so before……………

• The day before you will want to visit the salon and run through with her where she will allow you to set up your display, get a feel of the salon and surroundings.

• Visualize how you will set up your display, what props you want to bring with you for your display. You can spend 10-15 minutes in the salon. Time is an important factor and you want everyone to think that you are so busy you need to move on.

Page 12: Creation of a Successful Trunk Show for bamboopink

Where to get drawing prizes.............. Where to get drawing prizes..............

• There are many ways to get prizes without you having to put out cash for them and another way for you to make future contacts. You can contact other business in your area to see if they would like to donate:

• Gift Certificates, Products, Preferred Customer Specials, Coupons• Now where do you say you look for these:• Avon Rep A shirt company• A boutique A candle rep• Arbonne BeautiControl • Massage salons Bath & Body Works• Beauty Supplies• Book stores

• Check with online sites like etsy for handmade item’s, find others you have associated with to see if they would like to donate either a product and/or a gift certificate. You can also gather catalogs and flyers from these companies.

• Now when you collect these items you can create a gift bag and in the bag you can include some of the items you collect, and of course don’t forget to include all your business information, business cards a flyer with hostess rewards, coupon for a discount on a future purchase at a local party.

• These bags can now be used for your drawings, wala no cost to you except a little leg work and along the way you have made new contacts for futures jewelry purchase or a trunk show.
