Creating PostScript Files:Adobe InDesign CS2 4.0 - Mac

I have experienced a few problems when setting up through File > Print Presets > Defi ne. I recommend that you set the Print Preset up through File > Print.

- From the File menu, select Print.

- From the Printer list, select PostScript® File.

- From the PPD list, select AdobePDF 7.0.

On left-hand side of dialogue box select...

General: Match example to the right.

Note: We do not prefer spreads unless the pages are truly the center two pages of the book. Contact your Customer Service Representative for an imposition sheet of your job. (The number of pages divided by two is not always the center spread on a web press.)

Setup: Match example to the right.

Note: The width and height displayed will be whatever the document size is plus the bleed assigned in the next tab.

Marks & Bleed: Match example to the right.

Note: If you have any elements that bleed off of the page it is essential that you enter the amount of bleed.

Graphics: Match example to the right.

Color Management: Match example to the right.

Note: It is very important that the Printer Profi le is grayed out in this window. If you have the option to select a profi le beside Printer Profi le, that means that there is a Color Profi le assigned to the document. This can result in color separation other than what you expected. If you can select a profi le, refer to the example below on how to fi x it.

- Go into Edit > Color Settings... - Make sure that Emulate Adobe InDesign 2.0 CMS Off is selected.

Advanced: Match example to the right.

Summary: The Summary lists all of the options chosen in your print style.

- Click Save Preset...

- Name the Preset.

- Click OK.

- Now that a Print Preset has been saved, when you are ready to print a PostScript fi le go into File > Print...

- The settings that you just saved will appear as an option beside Print Preset: at the top.
