Turnitin plagiarism plugin settings 26.Launch Peermark Manager: PeerMark

assignments allow students to read, review, and score/evaluate each other’s assignment submission. When complete papers can be distributed so that all the students are able to read the comments left on their work. The PeerMark assignment may be anonymous or attributed, this is done through the PeerMark Manager settings

27.Launch QuickMark Manager: this is a marking tool used by tutors to edit or grade papers, pre-set standard editing marks that ensures consistent feedback to students. These are called QuickMark sets, there are a variety of QuickMark Sets for you to choose from, if you say the same things regularly you could build your own comment database. These can be created, shared and used by other tutors in the same course (Note: only tutors who have created quickmark sets can edit the settings)

28.Enable Turnitin: Set to Yes to enable Turnitin as part of your assignment, it checks for plagiarism within student submissions

29.Display Originality Reports to Students: If set to Yes, students can see the originality report generated by Turnitin

30.When should the file be submitted to Turnitin?: this is set by default to Submit file when first uploaded

31.Allow submissions of any file type?: If set to Yes, allows files of any type to be submitted to Turnitn

Report Generation Speed: the Turnitin system returns an Originality Report, showing similarity of text of the submission against the search targets. There are 3 options:

Generated Reports Immediately (resubmissions are not allowed) - originality report generated immediately, students cannot resubmit

Generated Reports immediately (resubmissions are allowed until due date) – students can submit as many times as they wish until the due date, only the latest version is available previous versions removed. On the due date the originality report is only available to the tutor and submissions are compared against one another from the same assignment

Generate reports on due date – originality report generated on due date, students can resubmit as many times as needed until due date but do not see their originality report

The Second option Generated Reports immediately (resubmissions are allowed until due date) is recommended, as it allows students to upload draft versions for checking before the final submission date

36.Exclude Bibliography: set to Yes, allows you to check if students sources are correct, however factor this in when marking assignments as this will increase the similarity mark

Remember: these are only guidelines, you may wish to exclude both above in the criteria

38.Exclude Small Matches: can be set to be exclude small matches as defined by a specific number of words or an overall percentage of the submitted work

Attach a rubic to this assignment: Rubics is a powerful tool, which marks entire grade reports for a class, they are pre-defined comments that you can add to a student’s paper. There are rubrics already created in Turnitin and you can also set up your own Rubrics and attach them to an assignment. The Rubric Manager allows you to create weighted, points-based, or qualitative rubrics for offering standardised feedback on student papers. You can score fast by clicking the corresponding Rubrics score and explanation, it auto calculates the grade and attaches it to the Gradebook. A rubric produces a similarity report and directed feedback to how sources have been used, where and what improvements to make, so enhancing the feedback given to students.
