About Create!form Server

10

About Create!form ServerCreate!form Server is part of a suite of products that allow users to prepare, format, produce, distribute and administer the transactional and documentoutput of your enterprise server.

Create!form Server WorkflowCreate!form Server can run on most Windows platforms, and operates inconjunction with the standard Windows print spooler. The output from yourenterprise server is spooled to specially configured print queues, whereinformation is added to the job, and may be split into several component jobfiles, before being routed to Create!form Server. This process of tagging androuting jobs is performed by either Create!send or Create!form Director; theproduct you use will depend on the level of functionality you require.Create!form Server monitors the jobs submitted by Create!send andCreate!form Director, intercepting any jobs that are intended to be mergedwith customized forms, known as Form or Transform projects. Form projectsare designed using another companion product, Create!form Designer.Transform projects are designed using another companion product,Create!form Transform. As jobs are submitted to different print queues,Create!form Server identifies which project it should be merged with andbuilds an output file that can then be printed, faxed, emailed or archived usingother Create!form companion products. The output file format is typicallyPostScript or PDF, depending on its intended destination, but other formatsare supported.

About Print Queues

14

About Print QueuesCreate!form Server uses standard Windows print queues, which areconfigured specially to handling the merging of spool files with form designs. When a spool file is "printed" to a Create!form enabled print queue,Create!form Server intercepts the print job, merges the spool file with the formproject, and then sends the merged document to the output port.Output ports can be physical print devices, or one of the Create!form outputports for fax, email or archive. Reprint Manager is a special utility program for managing documents in theCreate!form print queues. Some of the functions provided by Reprint Managerare also available from the Windows printing utilities.
