Urban Workshop2015

Help us to createa network ofpost-industrial cities

"Research shows that untapped (post-industrial areas) brownfields exist in more than three-quarters of 50k cities and more than half of middle size cities."

Domański 2000

We want to create a strong network of post-industrial cities, whereby local authorities and non-government organizations could exchange experiences, tests new solutions, acquire funds and lobby for their interests.

What's our goal?

Even though the industry lost its role, post-industrial cities still play a big role in their regions.

They struggle with similar challenges:ź search of a new identity: social, economic, spatialź consequences of de-industrialisation ź make an attempt to redefine their role

This challenges create great conditions to test innovative solutions.

Why post-industrial cities?

The network will be built of:ź local authoritiesź non-government organisationsź city activists

We invite partners from all over Europe (not only EU)

There's only one condition: the willingness to share experiences and build a platform with

other cities.

Who are we inviting to the network?

In Autumn 2015 we will ocially launch the network in Konin.

At this point, we are forming a working group, which will design the framework for the network

and choose main areas of interest.

What's the plan?

Send an e-mail with a short description of your experience to:

m.kubecka [at] pracowniamiejska.pl

Wanna join our working group?

Send an e-mail entitled 'follow the network' to:

Magdalena Kubeckam.kubecka [at] pracowniamiejska.pl

Don't you want to co-create the network but still curious about how it's going to work and grow?

We know that post-industrial cities can be the hotbed of innovation, that these are the places that oer enough space to design and test new ways of reducing unemployment, boosting entrepreneurship and supporting sustainable growth. We hope to help post-industrial cities head in this direction.
