Welcome to the inaugural edition of Chicago’s Most Influential Residential Real Estate Brokers, a special custom content section from Crain’s Custom Media.

The 96 brokers featured alphabetically in these pages represent an impressive cross-section of the Chicago-area residential real estate sales community, many of whom have practiced with distinction for decades.

Every profile in this section is drawn from the nomination materials submitted, no broker paid to be featured, and the Crain’s Chicago Business newsroom was not involved in creating this content.

To qualify for inclusion, nominated brokers must be based and practicing in Cook County. They must have a minimum five years of experience as a licensed residential real estate broker in the Chicago area. And they must have closed at least $10 million in sales in 2017 with a minimum of eight transactions.

Because this honor is bestowed only upon brokers for whom nominations were submitted, this year’s list is not comprehensive. We trust that as this list becomes a new tradition in the Chicago real estate community, the pool of potential honorees will continue to grow. Meanwhile, enjoy reading about the achievements of what is a truly impressive first class, and please join us in congratulating them.

searching for downtown condos. Last year, the site had 290,000 visitors that drove over $35 million of buyer business. Cohen has closed between 25 and 36 transactions per year in the past three years, with an average sales price of $822,000.

Selling without a team, Marti Corcoran has closed $54 million in sales through 140 transactions over the past three years. One highlight during her 23

he has received the Chairman’s Circle award, and was granted the Chairman’s Circle Diamond award in 2017, putting him in the top half of 1 percent of the entire Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices national network. Last year alone, he had over $13 million in sales transactions. In 2016, he was inducted into KoenigRubloff’s Hall of Fame.

Rubina Bokhari closes more than $17 million in sales annually without a team. All her business is generated through referrals. She has earned

several National Association of Realtors designations, including Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE), Brokers Price Opinion (BPO) accreditation, Sellers Representation Specialist (SRS) and, most recently, Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist.

Michelle Browne began her career in investment real estate 30-plus years ago and soon became interested in project development. She studied investment

analysis, financial planning, price/finish analysis, price/value analysis, design, complicated negotiation strategies and marketing. Since 2015, she has been involved in more than 70 real estate transactions, totaling more than $28 million in sales.

With more than 25 years of real estate experience in Chicago, Cara Buffa consistently ranks in the top 1 percent of local producers. She has

been recognized by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices every year since 2014, obtaining both Chairman’s Circle Gold status, which placed her in the top 2 percent nationally, and Chairman’s Circle Platinum status, which placed her among the top 1 percent nationally.
