D10 Genetic diversity of fungal communities
• Completed for WP1 – biogeographical effects shown, but within each country fungal communities are more similar to advanced/intact stages with each regeneration stage
• 1st paper submitted to Environmental Microbiology on the fungal diversity of Scottish bogs (as introduction paper – this includes sequencing data)
• 2nd paper on structure of WP1 data in prep. Still needs some stats (Mantel tests for vegetation/location data exploration)
• WP2 samples very problematic, still working on these….

Sarcoleotia turficola: a rare fungus growing in association with Sphagnum spp.
Potential indicators of regeneration?• 68% of all clones were not identifiable to Genus or Order (!) level
Phialocephala spp: fungi growing as root endophytes/saprophytes in cool wetlands
