The Phoenix Performance Academy present their annual spring show. Show casing the hard work the Academy has done over the year. This years show features a selection of stage and screen moments including songs from Annie, Grease, Jungle Book, Fame, Frozen and many more.

Following another record setting first half of the season where we saw more customers attend our performances than ever before. From Sep to the end of Jan the Castleford Phoneix had just under 6000 people attend our events and we return with our spring and summer programme for 2015.

We have some excellent events and shows to look forward to and along with a selection of Dance schools performing we also welcome live music in the form of one of the best Elvis Tribute Acts in the business by Jim Santana, We will be holding a National sporting event with the English Weightlifting Championships in February and The Company go Ska and nutty, bringing us the Madness Musical ‘Our House’. We also have performance of family favourites ‘Oliver!’ and ‘Annie’ to look forward to as well as something very special planned by the Cast towards the end of the Season.

Spring Awakening

Welcome to the Castleford Phoenix Theatre.

The Castleford Phoenix Theatre was opened in 2008 and is a modern 300 seat proscenium style theatre. While being part of Airedale Academy the Phoenix is not just a simple school hall.

With nearly 40 public events per year and growing the Phoenix helps put the arts at the heart of the community.

With a dedicated foyer and bar, comfortable seating with excellent views of the stage and a new air conditioning system in the auditorium the Phoenix is one of the most enjoyable theatres to visit in Yorkshire.

The Championships are the first major weightlifting competition of the calendar year and will see Olympic, World and Commonwealth lifters compete to become the national champion of England!Athletes will compete in IWF recognised weight categories with awards for the top three ranked athletes in each category. The competition is a Senior event and all athletes will compete in one age-band.

A tribute to the artists that inspire the generations.

The Cast return with their final Cabaret of the season. Set in out now legendary Kabaret layout, complete with fully licensed bar and service directly to your table. Join the cast as they take you on a tribute to the worlds musical legends and Icons, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Diana Ross, Dolly Parton, and many many more. Featuring hit after hit, this energetic show is sure to feature something for everyone from this group of talented young people.

The Phoenix welcomes Castleford Tigers Dance Academy with their performance of Jungle Fever. The show is a community dance performance involving children from the Castleford and surrounding areas.The Castleford Tigers Dance Academy has grown from strength-to-strength and become one of the best in Super League and tonight is a chance for the future generations of the Academy to shine.

Aloha from Airedale!

Jim has been established for over sixteen years. In this time he has become recognized as one of the top Elvis tribute artists in Europe.

His shows have to be seen to be believed, Jim is the ultimate showman and he wows crowds time and time again with his fantastic tribute.

Jim’s show is a tasteful and professional dedication to the King. Jim and the band perform songs from the early years in the 50′s to the great Vegas years with multiple outfit changes throughout the show it’s is a must see show for any fans of Elvis.

Bringing vividly to life Dickens’ timeless characters and ever-popular story of the orphan who found a new family. This sensational score includes Food Glorious Food, Consider Yourself, You’ve Got to Pick-A-Pocket, Oom Pah Pah, As Long As He Needs Me and many, many more. Join the fun as the cast transport you to London in the 1800’s where life for many is bleak and difficult and danger lurks around every corner but by the end of the show after a rollercoaster emotional ride will leave you asking for more!

The Company present their 2015 show - Our House, featuring the music of Madness. The story of Camden lad Joe Casey who makes a decision that will change his life giving two paths that Joe’s life could take after a fateful night; one path means a criminal record and social exclusion, while the other will lose him the girl that he loves. Good Joe fights to save his house on Casey Street, Bad Joe is determined to demolish it with tragic consequences. featuring ‘It Must Be Love’, ‘My Girl’, ‘Baggy Trousers’ ‘Our House’ and many more.

‘Move It’ is the showcase for Airedale Academy students dance work from the year. Featuring students just beginning to explore dance to GCSE students exam pieces where they have choreographed the work themselves to hopefully stun the examiners.Join the talented performers for this celebration of dance ability with an energetic, moving and fun explosion of dance and if you feel the need while sat in your seats, don’t be afraid to MOVE IT!

The Cast Present....

Les Misérables - Schools Edition

This legendary musical has been specially adapted to meet the needs of young performers. This author-approved edition has been abridged to a running time of just over two hours, while carefully maintaining the integrity of one the greatest musicals ever written. This epic story recounts the struggle against adversity in 19th century France. Imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread, petty thief Jean Valjean is released from his 19-year term and not only becomes and honest man, but the mayor of a prosperous town and a loving adoptive father - violating his parole in the process. The relentless Inspector Javert, who makes a decent life for Valjean impossible, consequently pursues him. Only years later, after Valjean proves his mettle during a bloody student uprising and saves the life of a young man hopelessly in love with Valjean’s adopted daughter, does the ex-convict finally feel fully redeemed.
