EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT:

CPFJ thanks Bob Pugliese of Premier Wealth Management for their generouscontribution to this years Central PA Jazz Festival. The activities begin August 7thand includes a Jazz Party at 1500 North 6th Street, our annual Picnic at Indian EchoCaverns, “Jazzin’ on the Pride” Riverboat Cruise, Jazz Jam Session at the TimbersRestaurant in Mt. Gretna, and a concert at Mt. Gretna Playhouse on August 10th withPhiladelphia bassist Lee Smith’s Sextet and Hendrik Meurkens Samba Jazz Quartet. We thank Music at Gretna for offering to co-host our concert in this wonderfulfacility. Please check out the complete Festival lineup on pages 4 & 5 - we think youwill be excited about the artists and events that are scheduled. The new Jazz Party willfeature live music in four venues in one building - the new Condominium at 1500North 6th Street. We will have on the roof of the building withJazz Under the Stars

Diane Wilson Bedford and Jim Wood’s Trio - this is the only ticketed event and thereis limited attendance (150 people) so order your tickets early. The TimbersRestaurant in Mt. Gretna will be the site for our Jam Session on Sunday, Aug 10 from3:30-6:30 p.m. Please call them for reservations as this venue also has limited seating -they also do not take credit cards - cash or check only, please come prepared. Wesuggest that you have dinner and drinks at the Timbers and then head over to theGretna Playhouse for the double bill of Lee Smith’s Sextet and Hendrik MeurkensSamba Jazz Quartet - it should be a great day - see the whole Festival story on page 5.

Thanks to all who responded to our Festival appeal - we truly appreciate yourgenerous support!

The CPFJ Board has voted to move the 2015 Festival to April or May, enabling us toincorporate more educational components with performances by area high schoolsand youth groups - keep in touch for more news on this new venture.

If you would like to volunteer some time assisting at future CPFJ events, pleasecontact our volunteer coordinator, Leslie Beamer, at [email protected] or (717)790-9672. We will need volunteers for our four day long Central PA Jazz Festival -Aug. 7-10, promotional tent at the three day Dauphin County Music and WineFestival, Sept. 5-7, as well as our Fall Concert Series. We also encourage localbusinesses and individuals to donate funds to underwrite CPFJ events. If you areinterested, please contact the office at your convenience.

Check out the & pages in this issue - it is the most“Steady Gig” “One Time Only”

complete list of Central PA jazz events available. We hope you will get out often tosupport the establishments that are hosting live jazz and give a listen to our talentedarea jazz musicians - there is a lot of great music happening right down the street andit will only continue to be there if there is a steady audience..

Our CPFJ Jam Sessions will continue at Gullifty’s on the last Wednesday of everymonth and we will be starting the monthly Sunday Sessions at M.J.’s Coffeehouse atthe Allen Theatre again in September - we hope to see you at these events. It’s agreat place for musicians to meet and share ideas and always entertaining for thelisteners..
