    FABRICATION OF HYDRAULIC DISC BRAKE

    SYNOPSIS

    INTRODUCTION:

The hydraulic disc bra! is an arrangement of disc braking mechanism which uses

brake uid, typically containing ethylene glycol, to transfer pressure from the controlling

    mechanism to the braking mechanism

    CONSTRUCTION:

The most common arrangement of hydraulic brakes for passenger vehicles,

motorcycles, scooters, and mopeds, consists of the following:

    • Brake pedal or lever

    • A pushrod (also called an actuating rod)

    • A master cylinder assembly containing a piston assembly (made up of either one ortwo pistons, a return spring, a series of gaskets !"rings and a uid reservoir)

    • #einforced hydraulic lines

    • Brake caliper assembly usually consisting of one or two hollow aluminum or chrome"

plated steel pistons (called caliper pistons), a set of thermally conductive brake pads

and a rotor (also called a brake disc) or drum attached to an a$le%

The system is usually &lled with a glycol"ether based brake uid (other uids may also be

    used)%

    "ORKIN#:

'n a hydraulic brake system, when the brake pedal is pressed, a pushrod e$erts force on the

piston(s) in the master cylinder, causing uid from the brake uid reservoir to ow into a

pressure chamber through a compensating port% This results in an increase in the pressure

of the entire hydraulic system% This forces uid through the hydraulic lines toward one or

more calipers where it acts upon one or two caliper pistons sealed by one or more seated

!"rings which prevent the escape of any uid from around the piston%

The brake caliper pistons then apply force to the brake pads, which pushes them against

the spinning rotor, and the friction between the pads and the rotor causes a braking torue

to be generated, slowing the vehicle% eat generated by this friction is either dissipated

through vents and channels in the rotor or conducted through the pads, which are made of

speciali*ed heat"tolerant materials such as kevlar or sintered glass%

+ubseuent release of the brake pedallever allows spring(s) to return the master piston(s)

back into position% This relieves the hydraulic pressure on the caliper, allowing the brake

piston in the caliper assembly to slide back into its housing and the brake pads to release

    the rotor%

    E%PECTED OUTCO$E:

The HYDRAULIC DISC BRAKIN# SYSTE$&  is working with satisfactory

conditions% -e are able to understand the di.culties in maintaining the tolerances and

also uality% -e have done to our ability and skill making ma$imum use of available

facilities% 'n conclusion remarks of our pro/ect work, let us add a few more lines about our

impression pro/ect work% Thus we have developed an BS”  which helps to know how to

achieve smooth braking system with safety arrangement% The operating procedure of this

system is very simple, so any person can operate% By using more techniues, they can be

modi&ed and developed according to the applications%

    AD'ANTA#ES:

    • 't reuires simple maintenance cares

    •  The safety system for automobile%

    • 0hecking and cleaning are easy, because of the main parts are screwed%

    • 1asy to andle%
