Maxis Berhad presented 21 brilliant young Malaysians with the Maxis Scholarship for Excellence Awards, bringing them a step closer to their dream of distinction in their selected elds. BIC CAMPUS SPEED WRITING COMPETITIONFrom 12th till 28th April, BIC headed to 12 college campuses to conduct the BIC Campus Speed Writing Competition 2011. In an era where technology has robbed the uniqueness of each individual person in terms of putting words to paper, BIC has continued to champion the cause for continued creativity through writing among the young. This has made BIC the leading international brand of stationery products in over 160 countries.

More than 100 students compete to set the Fastest Speed Writing Record for 2011. LOral Malaysia Introduces Women In Science for the Sixth YearWomen have come a long way to where they are now and what they do. Although most of them are not given the recognition they deserve, some have theirs highlighted and appreciated. LOral Malaysia has set up a program called For Women In Science, which was rst launched in 2006 and has been running successfully every year.

LOral Malaysia allocates a total of RM60,000 for this program, which will provide nancial assistance of RM20,000 each to three young female researchers to pursue their scienti c projects in Malaysia. Now in its sixth edition, The Women in Science Fellowship is LOrals number one corporate commitment to provide encouragement, support and recognition to women in the eld of science. To date, this program has already awarded fteen National Fellows.

According to Tay Ai Leen, Corporate Communications Director of LOral Malaysia, Even though women excel at all levels of upper education, they are still poorly represented at the highest levels of scienti c research. She goes on to say that they remain committed to the philosophy that The World Needs Science and Science Needs Women.

Nandos Fourth Peri-fy Your Art Competition Prize Giving CeremonyNandos concluded the fourth annual Peri-fy Your Art Competition with a prize presentation and an art exhibition at 1Utama Shopping Centre in Petaling Jaya. This annual competition is held with the aim of promoting and discovering the hottest new artistic talents from our local colleges and universities. The theme chosen for this year is Health isBody, ART and Soul, which goes hand in hand with Nandos focus on promoting a healthy lifestyle through healthy eating.

Once again, Nandos joined forces with NN Gallery who has been helping curate the paintings for the exhibition as well as guiding the judges through the judging process. The requirements this year is for students to submit paintings which are a minimum size of 2 feet x 2 feet and up to a maximum size of 3 feet x 3 feet. They were also allowed to use mediums such as acrylics, silkscreen and collage in their art works.

The panel of judges that were appointed to choose the winning artworks are U-Wei Hj Shaari, an award winning director and one of Malaysias nest directors; Dato Zahim Albakri, an award winning actor and theatre director; Syed Maha Amin Syed, an artist, composer and lm director; Syed Nabil Syed Nahar, the director of NN Gallery and also Mac Chung Lynn, the CEO of Nandos Chickenland Malaysia.
