including physical risks covered by anti-

bacterial wipes/sprays, sanitising gel

stations, social distancing measures,

protective gloves; and aerosol risks with

face masks/covering, and sneeze guards

with a customer (mouse/phone/PIN

Cleaning

➢ Cleaning of equipment must follow any

use of that equipment, particularly if

interaction has taken place with a

customer or colleague

(phone/mouse/PIN machine use, etc).

➢ Often used equipment would include the

following: phones, printers, computer

keyboards, light switches, door handles,

sneeze guards, PBT controls, pallet truck

handles, personal equipment such as

safety knives, etc.

➢ Anti-bacterial spray should be used for

the general cleaning of work surfaces

(desks and kitchen tops), along with

other display surfaces.

➢ Where this is not possible, such as a

sales desk scenario, sneeze guards will

be in place, plus hygiene/cleaning

standards will be observed; failing this,

face covering to be worn.

➢ 2 metre distancing to be marked (as per

other retailers) and where possible, with

sticky hazard/marker tape and signage

throughout the shop floor walk way

area.

➢ Where practical, and dependent upon

shop floor lay out, a one way system

through the roll stock area is to be

marked out, using sticky marker tape

arrows and/or signage.

➢ Staggered colleague arrival times, and

lunch break schedules, are to be put into

place, to avoid any risk of close

proximity,

or unnecessary interactions.

➢ Where practical, work stations are not to

be shared, but if a shared desk cannot

be avoided, then the work station is to

be thoroughly anti bac cleaned with any

change of user.

Wearing and disposing of PPE

➢ Supplies of PPE will be in place before

store open.

➢ Ensure additional PPE stock is ordered

when required and in advance of stock

depletion, through RAS/CDL/Facilities

for added transmission protection.

➢ Ensure all colleagues are aware of where

to find supplies and how to wear and

dispose of them correctly, to minimise

any risk of infection. Information on this

will be supplied through FUSE/Issued

guidelines and Bulletins.

Internal Doors

➢ Unless designated as a fire door, all

internal doors to be left open, where

practical, to avoid the need for using

door handles (a part of the store

manager’s open up routine)

➢ Where this is not possible, ensure ability

to clean the handle(s) on a regular

basis, with anti-bacterial wipes or anti-

bacterial spray (toilets after use, etc).

Air conditioning/Heating Systems

➢ Where practical and possible, heating

and air conditioning units should be left

off, to help prevent spread of infection

➢ Systems manually controlled in stores.

➢ Front doors open (if possible), along

with, potentially, the back door, for

fresh air flow

➢ If a locked door system is incorporated

to control customer access, this may not

Customers

➢ Where practical, a one way system

should be adopted, and signed, through

the roll stock area (assessed on a store

by store basis).

communicated.

➢ Initial Opening of stores will be on a

“locked door” basis only, based upon

customer, to sales colleague basis. This

entry procedures will be determined as

business progresses, and based upon

government guidance.

gently reminded upon entry to the store,

of their responsibility for full parental

supervision, taking into account the safe

social distancing restrictions currently in

place.

Lifts

➢ For the stores that have lifts on site for

customers with mobility issues, cleaning

routines will also need to include the

door handle and controls for this piece

of equipment.

➢ Numbers of people using the lift will also

need to be monitored, to observe safe

social distancing.

➢ Customers encouraged to use the stairs

where possible.

Clinically Extremely Vulnerable, and

Clinically Vulnerable Colleagues

➢ Anyone classed as clinically extremely

vulnerable, will be notified of this, and

would include the following:

• People with cancer who

undergoing chemotherapy or

radiotherapy.

• people with cancers of the blood

or bone marrow such as

leukaemia, lymphoma or

myeloma who are at any stage

of treatment.

• people having immunotherapy or

other continuing antibody

treatments for cancer.

• people having other targeted

cancer treatments which can

affect the immune.

• people who have had bone

marrow or stem cell transplants

in the last 6 months, or who are

still taking immunosuppression

drugs.

• People with severe respiratory

conditions including all cystic

fibrosis, severe asthma and

severe chronic obstructive

pulmonary (COPD).

• People with rare diseases that

significantly increase the risk of

infections (such as SCID,

homozygous sickle cell).

• People on immunosuppression

therapies sufficient to

significantly increase risk of

infection.

• Women who are pregnant with

significant heart disease,

congenital or acquired.

➢ Anyone classed as clinically vulnerable,

will be notified of this, and would include

the following:

• aged 70 or older (regardless of

medical conditions)

• under 70 with an underlying

health condition listed below

(that is, anyone instructed to get

a flu jab each year on medical

grounds)

• chronic (long-term) mild to

moderate respiratory diseases,

such as asthma, chronic

obstructive pulmonary disease

(COPD), emphysema or

bronchitis

• chronic heart disease, such as

heart failure

• chronic kidney disease

• chronic liver disease, such as

hepatitis

• chronic neurological conditions,

such as Parkinson’s disease,

motor neurone disease, multiple

sclerosis (MS), or cerebral palsy

• diabetes

• a weakened immune system as

the result of certain conditions,

treatments like chemotherapy, or

medicines such as steroid tablets

• being seriously overweight (a

body mass index (BMI) of 40 or

above)

• pregnant women

➢ Colleagues will need to identify

themselves to their manager/HR if they

fall into any of the above categories, so

that full consultation can be taken, and

before any consideration for a return to

work can take place

.

Queuing for store entry

➢ With restricted customer numbers in

force for our stores, consideration will

need to be taken into account for

customers queuing.

➢ Principle Landlords are responsible for

the exterior walk ways of our stores,

and will put social distancing markings

in place for any queuing needed.

➢ Low foot fall figures for our stores apply

➢ Social distancing marks will need to be

put into place outside of the store

entrance, in the eventuality that queuing

is required; this will need to be assessed

on a store by store basis.

will need to be had, regarding the

impeding of our store entrance area;

this will need to be assessed on a store

by store basis.

➢ Hazard tape on floor/signage will need

to be considered, to keep our entrance

area clear for our customers, and for

safe emergency evacuation; this will

need to be assessed separately on a

store by store basis.

First Aid

All colleagues and

➢ First Aid should only be carried out by

fully qualified first aiders.

➢ An appointed person in store, ensures

that any first aid kit is always stocked

correctly, and will call the emergency

services, if an ambulance is needed,

and that is the extent of their duties.

➢ If first aid treatment is carried out by

a fully qualified first aider, full PPE

including protective gloves, and face

mask, should be worn before

attempting any first aid for a customer

or colleague.

➢ The area where first aid treatment has

been carried out, should be cleaned

thoroughly with anti-bacterial

spray/anti-bacterial wipes, and any

waste material disposed of in waste

bags, and doubled bagged for extra

protection against transmission.

➢ First Aiders will need to thoroughly

wash and sanitise their hands,

following any first aid treatment given.

➢ First Aid PPE will need to be disposed

of following treatment given, in double

bagged waste bags.
