About the Index --
Place names and towns, many of which never developed, geographical
areas, roads, railroads, mining districts, a few individuals chosen
subjectively I'm afraid, and a few miscellaneous items are listed.
Ores, except the most prevalent gold and silver, are listed to
show distribution. I did not go into Arizona except along the
Colorado River. Mines and groups in the Dale, Rand, and other
areas are not listed separately, nor the names of other individ-
ual mines, except when their locations were not clear, or if the
mines themselves are of interest. This is necessarily a subject-\
ive selection reflecting my own interests and knowledge -- or lack•
of it. In some cases I have made inferences from other sources
to aid in location, and these are subject to error. In the
limited time I could devote to the project, I am sure to have
made errors and omissions. This is far from a professional job,
but it will hopefully prove useful.
