Suparman, S.Pd Key Words: Scheme Activation Strategy, Reading Comprehension Reading is an extremely effective means of extending our command of language, so it has a crucial place in classroom in which language learning is a central purpose. In teaching reading, a strategy is needed; it can make the students motivating and interesting. One of the strategies used was scheme activation strategy. Scheme activation strategy is an activity that can be adopted in any classroom to encourage active learning among students. In this case, students select one of several passages or reading texts from an approved list, read the passages or reading texts, write a summary, and prepare a short oral presentation. The problems stated in this study are (1) how to increase the students reading comprehension through scheme activation strategy for the seventh year students of SMPN 3 Keruak in the school year 2011/2012? (2) to what extent is the increasing of the students reading comprehension through scheme activation strategy for the seventh year students of SMPN 3 Keruak in the school year 2011/2012? This is a classroom action research. In this study, there were three cycle must be conducted with total of students were 35 students as a research subject. The writer used an observation of students activity and a test to evaluate the students learning result in reading comprehension in form of multiple choices test that consisted of 20 items which each items consisted of four options After collecting and calculating the data, the researcher found that the successful percentage of each cycles were: for observation of students learning result got at cycle I (2,7), cycle II (4,6), cycle III (8,0) and the result of students learning evaluation got at cycle I (54,28%), cycle II (68,57%), cycle III (91,42%). Based on the result of data collection, using scheme activation strategy in increasing reading comprehension had higher achievement than students who were taught by conventional strategy.vii

Suparman S.Pd Kata Kunci: Strategi Skema Aktivasi, Pengajaran Keterampilan Membaca Membaca merupakan sarana yang cukup effektif untuk memperluas pemahaman bahasa, sehingga, membaca memiliki tempat yang sangat penting di dalam kegiatan process belajar mengajar. Dalam pengajaran keterampilan membaca strategi sangat di butuhkan untuk menumbuhkan minat dan motivasi siswa. Salah satu strategi yang di gunakan adalah strategi skema aktivasi. Strategi skema aktivasi adalah suatu strategi dimana siswa memilih teks yang di berikan guru secara berkelompok, kemudian teks tersebut didiskusikan dan dipersentasikan oleh siswa berdasarkan kelompok. Permasalahan yang di kemukakan dalam penelitian yaitu: (1) Bagaimana meningkatkan keterampilan membaca siswa melalui strategi skema aktivasi pada kelas 7 SMP Negeri 3 Keruak tahun pelajaran 2011/2012? (2) Sejauh mana pengaruh strategi skema aktivasi dalam meningkatkan keterampilan membaca siswa pada kelas 7 SMP Negeri 3 keruak tahun pelajaran 2011/2012? Penelitian in adalah penelitian tindakan kelas, dalam penelitian ini, di sana 3 siklus yang harus di lakukan dengan 35 jumlah siswa sebagai subjek penelitian. Peneliti menggunakan observasi aktivitas belajar siswa dan tes untuk mengevaluasi hasil belajar siswa dalam keterampilan membaca dalam bentuk tes pilihan ganda yang terdiri dari 20 soal dan setiap soal terdiri dari 4 pilihan. Setelah pengumpulan dan penghitungan data, peneliti mendapatkan pesentase ketuntasan pada tiap siklus yaitu; untuk observasi aktifitas belajar siswa pada siklus I dengan skor (2,7), siklus II (4,6), siklus III (8,0) dan hasil tes belajar siswa pada siklus I adalah (54,28%), siklus II (68,57%), siklus III (91,42%). Berdasarkan data di atas, menggunakan strategi skema aktivasi di dalam meningkatkan keterampilan membaca memiliki hasil yang lebih tinggi dari pada siswa yang di ajarkan dengan strategi konvensional.
