Conditions didn't allow for planting until June 8, as the cover crop vegetation did not dry out from the heavy spring rains. Warm soil temperatures helped the soybeans emerge quickly and residue cover from the terminated cover crop helped retain moisture during the July heat, resulting in yield gains following a winter cover. Finally, ample August rains helped to finish the soybeans making for very impressive yields despite the late start.

The purpose of this Practical Farm Research (PFR)® study is to evaluate if the yield and profitability of a fall cover crop, followed by soybean rotation, can provide a greater return on investment when compared to soybeans alone.
