From September 9 - 13, 1971, the most notorious prison riot in U.S. history occurred when 1500 prisoners at Attica prison seized control of half the prison.

During the next four days, some of the inmates demands were met but negotiations continued to stall.

What was the result of Attica?

10 staff hostages died

29 inmates died

Yard D of Attica Prison was destroyed

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC)

Comprised of 22 lessons Each lesson has been planned to be

completed within a weekly group session of one to two hours.

Curriculum is designed to be flexible and meet individualized program needs

Accommodations can be made with little concern if a lesson needs to be extended beyond one week or a two hour time period
