Courses that are interactive and practical:

Our courses offer teachings that have been compiled over 15 years of research and development. Lisa has brought together psychology, science, holistic living counselling, inner work, breathing techniques, relaxation techniques, visualization, sound meditation, moving meditation, mindfulness and the work of experts in the field to bring you a comprehensive and practical curriculum.

The spiritual element in our courses is light and non-denominational. Alongside a variety of meditation, teaching and group facilitation skills, we teach you to create guided meditations with or without a script and to create your own meditation programs. You learn how to write your own meditations across a variety of different practices. This means you have an infinite bank of meditations to call on for any occasion or style of group you may want to run. You can customize meditations for specific goals or issues E.g. corporate relaxation, support groups, hospitals, community groups etc. You will be able to respond tothe needs presented to you by the group; providing leadership in whatever style of meditation isappropriate, without prior preparation. This level of facilitation requires in depth and focussed training, which is what we provide. Support for building your regular personal meditation practice on a week byweek basis is also built into the course.

At ACHS our teaching style is holistic, highly interactive and practical. So even if you haven’t studied for a while, this kind of training is achievable and fun. We encourage you to apply the learning to your own life first which brings great depth to your study experience. On completion of each session and elective you receive written feedback from your coach as well as scheduled one on one live discussion time with your coach via Skype. This personalized and structured style of tuition enables you to progress through the course with maximum support. Each unit or elective involves approximately 20 hrs study and is a mix of exercises that are very practical in nature. At a minimum you would need 4-5 hrs a week of study time. The more hours you put in the quicker you progress.

Connect with other students and graduates in your area and around Australia on our private students and graduates forum. You will have all questions answered quickly from a very friendly and likeminded group and you will feel part of a warm, vibrant and supportive community of students and graduates. (One of the bonuses of belonging to the ACHS community). Email support is also available at any time from your personal coach and regular skype meetings. There are several opportunities throughout the year to meet other students by attending our Masterclasses or Retreats.

Felicity Carson is a registered nurse, meditation teacher and much more. In this elective she brings her deep knowledge of meditation together with her years of experience; running support groups and meditation groups for women with cancer, supporting the dying in her work as a nurse and assisting those losing their loved ones.

Felicity leads us on a journey that explores our beliefs around death and how they shape the way we deal with it as a reality. She gathers the work of Frank Ostaseski, Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, Jon Kabat-Zinn and Ian Gawler to explore death, grief and pain and how pain may be supported with meditation. She also discusses a multi-disciplinary approach to pain.

In this elective you will hear from some of Felicity’s students; cancer sufferers talking about the particular ways that meditation is helping them manage their journeys. This is a deep and insightful elective, and like all our electives, it will take you on a journey to explore anything triggered by these topics in order for us to be better placed to help others.

Our residential retreats (Friday to Monday) offer an incredible and precious opportunity for us all to meet and train in person.

Set in comfortable 4 star accommodation in the beautiful Dandenong ranges, and only an hour (approx) from the airport.

“The retreat is an invaluable part of the teacher training course, as it allows us to meet other students and coaches, practice all the teaching skills that we are learning, and do personal development work towards achieving our life purpose. I highly recommend it to the students of ACHS!” – Emmanuelle

"I would just like to give my heartfelt thanks for the opportunity to attend such a wonderful, nurturing, compassionate environment that your Meditation Retreat provided me with. I can often feel isolated in the work that I do, especially being in rural Victoria so it was absolutely wonderful to meet such an amazing group of people who are all on a similar journey. It was a fabulous opportunity for me to be the participant in really reconnecting with myself and others on a deeper level.

I really found the information to be invaluable. I loved meeting the coaches, the beautiful meditations that were led by Lisa and Julie, the sound healing and more. As a teacher now out in the big wide world I really found this to be such a fabulous experience for myself both personally and in the work that I do and I am so happy to have this as an annual event in my calendar.” – Kerryn

Attend the retreat at any time during your Certificate or Diploma studies. Non-compulsory for Certificate and Advanced Certificate students and compulsory for Diploma students.

Meditation for me has always been a refuge - a gentle and powerful way to cultivate more self-awareness, acceptance and compassion for myself, especially during difficult times. I have to come to know meditation as the most effective approach for developing a nourishing and nurturing relationship with myself which ultimately benefits all my relationships with others. I'm deeply grateful that in my work as a meditation facilitator and ACHS coach I have the opportunity to support others to do the same."

Tim James – ACHS Holistic Studies Coach

Tim’s business Meditation Life, based in Adelaide, supports people to bring meditation into their everyday life, to connect deeply with themselves and find the wisdom that lies within.

Tim sees his coaching role with ACHS as an ideal marriage of his passion for supporting people through his expertise as a life coach and meditation teacher. After managing a charitable organization in Adelaide for several years, he now works in a part-time role with them and is an avid volunteer.

Tim has a Certificate IV in Life Skills Coaching, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, has studied Quantum Touch Energy Healing and has completed the Advanced Certificate in Guiding and Teaching Meditation at ACHS.

The benefits of meditation have been profound for his own healing journey and he loves sharing meditation with his weekly groups. He also enjoys bringing meditation to youth who are doing it tough in the community through a not-for-profit employment program. His upcoming projects involve conducting international meditation retreats in India.

“I feel very blessed that meditation came into my life at a time of deep need and also now that I am able to teach others this beautiful expression of who we are. Meditation is intimate and expansive, it connects us to our essence and opens us up to our connection with others and our surrounds. To be a coach with ACHS is truly humbling. I am blessed to have this opportunity to be a part of your journey.’’
