Student Loans

Facts about the Advanced Learner Loans1. Advanced Learner Loans can be used to pay for approved courses at Level 3, 4, 5 and 6.

2. To be eligible you need to be aged 19 or above and a UK resident.

3. Advanced Learner Loans are government backed loans - they are not a bank loan and are administered by Student Finance England.

4. There’s no credit check. An Advanced Learner Loan doesn’t depend on your household income.

When do I need to pay the loan back?

5. When you’re earning more than £25k a year and repayments are fixed at 9% of earnings.

6. Your loan will be written off if you use an Advanced Learner Loan for an Access to Higher Education Diploma, once you’ve completed your Higher Education course. Something to bear in mind if you know you want to go on to University!

7. Any outstanding loan balance left after 30 years is automatically written off.

8. Applying for a loan is easy!

LSDN attended the fourth annual Croydon Business Excellence Gala Dinner Awards Ceremony and Charity Ball, held at The Grand Sapphire Hotel Banqueting Hall on Thursday, 4th October 2018.

The night started off with a bang when the guests were asked to vacate the premises due to an unexploded World War 2 bomb being discovered nearby! Experts were called to the scene to safely remove it, so the award ceremony could begin, guaranteed to be an unforgettable night!

We were represented by our Curriculum Resource & Quality Management Director, Jennifer Jones and Facilities and ICT Manager, David Ramond.

The event saw many distinguished businesses in Croydon, recognised by for their contributions to the community. Over 400 people were in attendance, with popular television presenter Michael Underwood hosting the ceremony. The Mayor of Croydon Councillor Bernadette Khan; Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Budget and Strategic Policy, Councillor Tony Newman and Clive Fuller, Director of headline sponsor Willmott Dixon gave motivational speeches about the Croydon community. The premier award, The Business Excellence Award was given to Bluebird Care Croydon, a homecare and live-in care agency in South Croydon. The proceeds raised will be used to help Croydon charities in the area.

Although LSDN did not win this time, we will continue to serve the community in every way we can, providing high-quality education and helping our students achieve their personal and professional goals.
