I update my teacher page each week with new assignments and unit materials. The Assignments page offers details and deadlines for each assignment. The Calendar shows the monthly assignments as they are posted. Reading resources include AR dates and outside reading suggestions. In Writing, you can find information on MLA formatting and writing tips.

ASSIGNMENTS:

Homework assignments are posted in classroom, and on the Assignments and Calendar pages. Please email if struggling with an assignment. Students will need to plan their time for longer term assignments, so that they are completed gradually.

READING:

To Kill a Mockingbird, The Diary of Anne Frank: Definitive Edition, The Outsiders, and Trouble.

Student-selected autobiography, biography or memoir; poems, short stories, and non-fiction articles

Accelerated Reading — one quiz per quarter

Read Theory — 10 passages per quarter

WRITING:

Creative (short stories, poems, one-sentence project)

Narrative (diary or magazine article)

Expository (book jacket project, note taking)

Research/presentations (To Kill a Mockingbird connections to U.S. history, group research project/fair)

Blue Team uses the following codes in Aspen:

AB = student was absent; assignment calculated as a zero until submitted

M = missing; calculated as a zero

X = excused; exempt from calculations

Reinforce grammar and mechanics

Students complete assigned modules

Each module worth up to 10 points
