Applicants for this position will be required to obtain a copy of his/her driving record from the California StateDepartment of Motor Vehicles. A copy of your driving record must be presented at the time of filing.License must not be suspended, restricted or revoked. Appointees may be required to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, standby, andcallbacks. Appointees may also be required to work overtime.

• A Domestic Water Distribution License D1 through D2 from the State of California Public Health.• Successful completion of any State and/or County sponsored seminar regarding wastewater treatment

maintenance of equipment and testing procedures.• Demonstrated Wastewater Treatment laboratory experience and/or training.• Strong ability to easily adapt to changing circumstances in order to reach an objective, including working

both indoors in plant and office environment and outdoors in extreme conditions (i.e., seasonally-causedcircumstances in varying climate and temperature conditions).

• Effective oral and written communication skills.• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

A thorough background investigation (including fingerprint search and reference verification) will be required ofcandidates- Candidates who are found to be unsuitable for employment as a Wastewater Treatment PlantOperator will be removed from the certification list pursuant to Civil Service Rule 6.04.

DISQUALIFYING FACTORS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:• Felony convictions• Certain job-related misdemeanor convictions• Certain serious traffic convictions or patterns of traffic violations (e.g. 4 or more moving violations within

the past 2 years, failure to appear, at-fault accidents and driving under the influence).• Illegal use of certain controlled substances.• Poor employment history.

The resulting Eligible Register for this examination will be used to fill vacancies in the Alterations andImprovements Division, Facilities Operation Service of the Internal Services Department.

This examination will consist of two parts: PART I - A Rating from Record evaluating the scope of training andexperience based on application information and Desirable Qualifications weighted at 30%. PART It - Aninterview weighted at 70%. The interview will cover training, knowledge and experience and general ability toperform the duties of the position. Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on each partof the examination in order to be placed on the eligible register.

The names of candidates receiving a passing grade in the examination will be placed on the eligible register inthe order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of promulgation. PASSINGTHIS EXAMINATION AND BEING PLACED ON THE ELIGIBLE REGISTER DO NOT GUARANTEE AN OFFEROF EMPLOYMENT.

No person may compete for this examination more than once every twelve (12) months.
