counterpoint
In this look from Alfaparf’s ‘70s Collection, cool, elegant
blonde is offset by a darker, face-framing shade for a chic
color pop. Using a variety of pale shades, the coloring
technique creates a delicate play of light. The provocative
style juxtaposes smooth fi nger waves with expanded,
teased volume.
cut 1. Create a trapezoid starting from ¾ out of the right eyebrow to ¾
out of the left eyebrow and continue up to the crown (panel A).
2. Starting at the base of the trapezoid near the crown, create a
triangle with the point facing down (panel B) and then trace a
straight line to about 1/3 inch behind the ear, creating the C
panels.
3. Trace a line that runs parallel to the shoulders, beginning from
section B and extending above the ear to create the D panels.
The rest of the hair is panel E.
4. In panel E defi ne the perimeter length below the shoulders and
bring all the hair to this length forming a round shape. Work to
each side, directing all hair to the original guideline.
5. In panel C, create a concave shape and bring all hair to the
central guideline.
6 In panel D, create diagonal sections, bringing them to the
guideline created in section E to form a concave shape.
7. Divide panel B into two parts and connect them to the remaining
section of the perimeter via a concave shape.
8. Divide panel A into two sections. Cut creating a concave shape,
until the hair meets the side perimeter of C (fi g. 8).
9. Texturize strands with an open-blade technique and lightly tousle
the hair. Set and defi ne waves with Semi di Lino Diamante Illuminating Strong Mousse and Semi di Lino Diamante Illuminating Hairspray.

1. Create triangle A with the top pointing toward the base of the
skull in the center of the back of the head. Using triangle A as a
base, create two B triangles, points down and behind the ear.
2. To the sides of the B triangles, create two trapezoids.
3. Back section view.
4. Within panel A, create 1/3 inch sections. Alternate applications of
Formula C and Formula A, leaving sections of uncolored hair in
between.
5. Repeat in panels B and C.
6. Apply Formula B to remaining hair and brighten highlights with
Formula D.
