Farbrengen: (Yiddish) (a) an assemblage addressed

by a Rebbe; (b) an informal gathering of Chassidim

characterized by soulful singing, sharing, and

discussion.

We welcome singer and guitarist Rabbi Ruvi New of

Chabad of East Boca who will lead our community

farbrengen celebrating Yud Tes Kislev, the 19th day of

Kislev on the Jewish calendar, the date that the founder of Chabad Chassidism,

Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi (1745–1812), was freed from his imprisonment

in czarist Russia. The nineteenth of Kislev, therefore, also marks the Rosh

Hashanah- the birth- of Chassidism: the point at which it was allowed to emerge

from the womb of mysticism into the light of day, where it has grown and

developed into an integral part of Torah and Jewish life. Festive dinner will be

great sage of the Talmud, Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai,

author of the Zohar (fundamental text of Kabbalah).

Minutes before his death, Rabbi Shimon instructed his

disciples not to mourn him but to mark the date of his

passing as a day of joy, honoring and celebrating his

accomplishments.

Tall and athletic, Rishe Deitsch leaves a trail of stunned women behind her as she effortlessly keeps a perfect

home and raises beautifully groomed children and grandchildren. She cooks three-course dinners every night while

reciting Psalms from memory and practicing the multiplication tables with her ten-year-old granddaughter. She

volunteers at the local nursing home, hospital, and animal shelter, and the floor under her refrigerator is spotless.

Nah, not true. I’m 53 years old, short, and wondering when I gained ten pounds. I have served as editor of the
