COUN S E L INGWhat hope is there for my problems and questions?

In today’s incredibly complex world, God’s practical counsel is desperately needed. There is tremendous hope in

the fact that God has provided His Word, the Bible, to give answers to life’s problems and questions. God says that He has provided everything necessary for a person to know Him and to live in a way that pleases Him. God promises to help and bless those who obey His instructions in the Bible. Therefore, the one who seeks after and follows

God’s answers for life can have great hope, contentment, and direction to handle all the pressures of life.

Counseling at CBC:

Cornerstone Bible Church Counseling Ministry, (CBCCM) provides hundreds of hours of free Biblical counseling each year to those seeking God’s answers to the questions and problems in their lives. God’s Word gives us answers and hope!

2 Timothy 3:16: “For all Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for correction, for reproof, for training in righteousness...”

2 Peter 1:3 “His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him Who called us by His own glory and excellence.”

Inside this brochure you’ll find a helpful list of commonly asked questions about our counseling ministry.

Who can come for counseling?

CBCCM offers counseling for individuals and couples. One does not need to be a regular attender or member of Cornerstone Bible Church to receive counseling. However, in instances where a waiting list becomes necessary, members of CBC will be given preference.

When will I be counseled?

Counseling is available Tuesday through Thursday by appointment only. Please contact our CBC office at (360) 386-9871 to set up an initial appointment.

What kind of counseling is offered?

Counseling is made available to help with any problems you may be facing - marriage, parenting, addictions, disorders, fears, anger, grief, depression, anxiety, etc.

Our counseling approach is based upon the truths of the Bible. Since God has fully provided His answers to all of life’s problems in the Bible, it is superior to any other source of counsel. It is our goal, therefore, to skillfully and

practically bring God’s wisdom to bear upon the difficulties you are facing.

Who are the counselors?

The counseling staff here at CBC consists of our pastor, elders, and other qualified individuals who are trained in Biblical counseling.

(Note: This training is through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors, (ACBC) and is NOT certified with the State of Washington.)

What does counseling cost?

It is our desire that counseling be available to anyone who needs it. This is why CBC is committed to not charging for the counseling they offer. The only cost to consider will be for books and other required materials. The counseling sessions themselves are provided at no additional cost.

How long will counseling last?

Counseling sessions last one h o u r e a c h w e e k , f o r approximately 12-16 weeks. The number of sessions may be shortened or lengthened depending upon the nature of the situation.

What will my counselor expect of me?

Your counselor will expect at least four things from you:

1. You will need to have a willingness to grow and change.

2. You will need to attend each week’s counseling session.

3. You will need to complete all your homework assignments between counseling sessions

4. You will need to be attending church four times per month with at least 2 of those times being at Cornerstone Bible Church.
