About the Freedom FundThe Freedom Fund is the world’s first private donor fund dedicated to ending modern slavery. With a team of experts and a global perspective, the Freedom Fund aims to raise $100 million by 2020 for smart investments to reduce slavery in the countries and sectors where it is most concentrated.

The Freedom Fund Council of Advocates is a select group of passionate activists and philanthropists dedicated to supporting the Freedom Fund’s mission to end modern slavery. Members play a key role in the Freedom Fund’s work, contributing their intellect, passion, advocacy, and financial support.

Participation in the annual Freedom Fund Convening which brings together the Freedom Fund Directors, program experts, and top activists working to end modern slavery.

Invitation to an annual Council of Advocates dinner with anti-slavery experts and activists.

Access to exclusive, detailed reports on Freedom Fund program performance and upcoming initiatives.

Membership composition and criteria

Membership in the Council of Advocates is by invitation only and is reserved for those who make a substantial contribution to the Freedom Fund and its mission. In addition, members will:

- Lend knowledge in an area of expertise and add creative energy to the organization.

- Leverage their personal network to identify others who may be able to provide support in various ways.

- Host or significantly contribute to at least one networking or fundraising event per year.

- Make a minimum two year commitment of $100,000 per year to the Freedom Fund.

Why we can make a difference by 2020

- Slavery is illegal everywhere. It is illegal under international law and in every country.

- It is morally abhorrent. No one needs to be persuaded about the evil of slavery.

- Even though 30 million people are enslaved, this is the smallest proportion of the world’s population that has ever been in slavery.
