Brother Knights Council 11910,

Congratulations to Council 11910 Degree Team for its perfor-

mance during the Admissions Degree for Brother Steven Di-

Mascio and to Grand Knight Tom DeMars for reaching out and

making contact and recruitment.

I have requested the names of the Admissions Degree Team so

that I may certify new team members and recertify all team

members.

Council 11910 is in good standing with both Supreme and the

State. All required reports have been submitted. Membership

as of August 1 stands at 107 members. Council Growth goals

for 2017-2018 require 10 new members and 4 new insurance

members. As of August 17, that requirement has dropped to 9

new members while insurance remains at 4. Do you know

someone who should be a Knight? Invite him to join. Remem-

ber, most men will not join an organization if they are not in-

vited and made to feel welcome.

Old Age—It’s Later Than you Think

It’s later than you think—everything is farther away now than it used to be. It’s twice as far to the

corner—and they added a hill. I notice I’ve given up running for the bus—it leaves faster than it

used to. It seems to me they are making steps steeper than in the old days and have you noticed

the smaller print they use in the newspaper! There is no sense asking anyone to read aloud…

everyone speaks in such a low voice I can scarcely hear them. Material in dresses is so skimpy es-

pecially around the hips. It’s all but impossible to reach my shoe laces. Even people are chang-

ing—they are much younger than they used to be when I was their age. On the other hand, peo-

ple my age are much older than I. I ran into an old classmate the other day and she had aged so

much she didn’t remember me. I got to thinking about the poor thing while I was combing my

hair this morning and I glanced in the mirror at my reflection and confound it, they don’t make

mirrors like they used to either.

Howard A. Futrell

Hello fellow Knights. I would like to thank you for all for your service to our parish. Here are a few reminders of opportunities to meet the needs of our parish and youth:

I need five team with one chair person and five team members for the Knights youth games and essay. I can not do this without your help so please contact me.

Mrs. Leslie is still in need of substitute Catechists to help out with CCD. You would not teach a class, but would fill in as a classroom assistant as needed. You will need to complete the online Safe Environment Training.

Another way we can help is we games for October fest setting up and take down. That is all I have for now. Thanks and let's keep our kids safe.

God Bless,

Greetings Brother Knights.

Greetings Brother Knights. I hope when you receive this

newsletter that you and your families are in the best of health.

I want to report on the Knights Of Columbus table display

during the Ministry Fair at St. Theresa’s on 19 and 20 August.

First I want to thank all the Knights who were a part of the set

up as well as physically being there to support the recruiting

drive. The Knights conducted themselves with respect, dignity

and pride. Thank you all.

Although we didn’t have a huge turnout like we would have

wanted, our table display has set the tone for others to follow.

Our table display stood out from the many other displays in

the Hall. We were neat, organized and overall looked profes-

sional. It was a direct reflection of the leadership and the

Knights in this council who supported it.

We will soon recruit members of our Parish into our Organi-

zation by mail. Be attentive and offer your assistance if need-

ed. More to follow.

Brother Knights, continue to conduct yourselves as the dis-

tinguished gentleman and professionals that you are. Show

the rest of the world that the Knights Of Columbus sets the

example for others to follow. When people see anything that

we do they should always see a well-organized Fraternity that

they might wish to be a part of

Take care Brother Knights I hope to see you all during our

next meeting.

God Bless you Brothers

Church Director’

Brother Knights,

First, and most important, I'd like to acknowledge two Brother Knights, who I knew I could count on for making our Joseph & Phyllis "Special Intention Mass" and "Prayer Breakfast" a worthwhile event. It just took a phone call, asking for help, with an en-thusiastic response from Brothers Lyn Papillon and Lucien Boissonneault to make it happen. Over the years, relationships with good people, keeps me coming back, although I own a t-shirt given to me that reads, "Stop Me Before I Volunteer Again." I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge our Worthy Grand Knight, Brother Tom Demars, for stepping in as Master of Ceremonies. Serving as Church Di-rector is pretty easy to get motivated for. Our Pas-tor Rev. Msgr. Lofton and Father Artur, along with our Deacons, Mr. Tom and Mr. Michael, are cooper-ative above and beyond the call of duty. Keep in mind, we are probably the only K of C Council that has the privilege of serving as a group on Service Sunday, with our Assembly conducting a U S Flag Folding Ceremony, and locating a Veteran's Monu-ment on church grounds.

To close, I'd like to recommend a book that I'm

enjoying."Intentional Living: Choosing a Life that Matters"

John Maxwell, Author.

God loves you and so do I,

Joe Valentino

Degree Team Captain

Greg Mueller

Greetings Brother Knights, Join me in saying welcome to our newest brother Knight,

Kayce McCall! Thanks to all members who helped present

the degree at the last meeting. We are starting to see some

new faces in different parts on the degree team, and would

welcome any additional performers to our team. With that

being said, I would also like the opportunity to keep our team

proficient on our performance, so please help us by taking the

time to ask someone who you know who may also like to join

the Knights. The more recruits we have, the more degrees we

will be able to put on, and the more new friends and brothers

we will be able to get to know!

Insurance Agent s

Michael A. Tarala

Greetings to my Brother Knights in Council 11910,

I hope that this newsletter finds you in good health and excel-

lent spirit. I have had the pleasure of meeting with many of

you during the month and have found the experience to be

enriching and of great interest in you and your families. I

would like to thank you for your willingness to speak with me

and your hospitality.

As we move forward I will be mentioning several topics of in-

terest that may affect your decisions as you plan for your

unique position in life. I, for one, would like to have had the

opportunity to utilize “life wisdom” several years prior to

attaining it.

As our population ages, averages become weighted to baby

boomers (born between 1946 and 1964) where many are in or

are approaching retirement. We all are accustomed to provid-

ing protection for our families in the form of automobile and

home insurance (my wife was rear-ended yesterday on Clem-

ents Ferry Road – not pretty).

The national average for those 65 and older that will need

Long Term Care insurance are 70%. This translates to median

facility bills in our state that amount to $200 per day. Long

Term Care plans protect your hard earned assets as this reality

approaches and underwriters nationwide are becoming more

selective in insuring applicants as our population ages. Also

keep in mind that Medicare provides only 20 days of facility

coverage and Medicaid is the largest provider of LTC by far in

the United States which becomes active after nearly ALL your

assets are spent down.

I look forward to my continued association with your council

and working together as we go forward.

Best Regards,

Michael Tarala, FIC, FICF

Brother Knights;

Researching the term “Domestic Church” for this month’s

newsletter, I came across several resources, each with a similar

explanation, so I selected the Catechism of the Catholic Church

as a starting point and read it to Pat. “It is here that the father

of the family, the mother, children, and all members of the

family exercise the priesthood of the baptized in a privileged

way ‘by the reception of the sacraments, prayer and thanksgiv-

ing, the witness of a holy life, and self-denial and active chari-

ty.’ Thus, the home is the first school of Christian life and ‘a

school for human enrichment.’ Here one learns endurance

and the joy of work, fraternal love, generous — even repeated

— forgiveness, and above all divine worship in prayer and the

offering of one’s life” (No. 1657).

When I finished, I looked puzzling at Pat and asked, “what do

you get from that?” She said, “Sounds like God’s plan for fami-

ly life that is found in scripture and tradition of the church.” I

never really thought that the daily parental activities such as:

teaching our kids to share, love and pray, settling arguments

by forgiving, laying down the law, shielding them from danger-

ous situations, staying up late studying or listening to how they

were wrongly treated by their best friends, as a school for hu-

man enrichment. However, each word from the catechism

above is lived out daily in the family. We just underestimate

how important each member of the family is to our under-

standing of who Christ is and how we perceive society.

Family is the basic unit of society and is the first school for

human enrichment. It is the parents, by word and example

who are the first teachers of faith. Where else does a child

first learn except from his or her parents, brothers, sisters and

grandparents. It is this environment that will build beliefs and

practices of faith that will last for a life time.
