brings you into a juvenile game of Chutes and Ladders or Whac-a-Mole. This program designs females who are in production for over 15 years, which re-quires structural soundness, fertility and maternal instincts.

We’ve been line breeding since 1965 so the conditions reveal themselves at my house, not yours.

Why be burdened with managing conditions when you can choose a good breeder who eliminates conditions? As a breeder with a conscience, I am dumb-founded to see that ½ of the back side of every registration paper is devoted to Genetic Condition Codes and Descriptors so that the industry can do a better job of “managing the incidence of genetic conditions”. It should be criminal – not acceptable – to pass along known conditions in any way.

We breed cattle, not numbers.If breeding could be reduced to numbers, I’d leave it to a 5th grader to manage.

Let’s take a look at her successes as a producer these past years:- Her first calf was a Legend offspring, purchased by Triebwasser Farms and still working hard as a 10 year old, as expected.- A year later she gave birth after a full sib mating…I named her bull calf Mojo of Volga, and have use him extensively in my herd. He has 25 daughters in pro-duction and is Aberdeen Angus through and through.- The 3rd year, I decided to do another full sib mating with Moofassa and we celebrated with the birth of the 901 calf who has been a tremendous cow and still having babies.- We welcomed her bull calf Maxamillion of Volga who is my self-made Leo-nid son. Max has fathered so many great bulls and females alike. Bred back to 9 of his own daughters, proving out the absence of conditions. This bull proves his worth every year, and his females have perfect udders, feet and legs.- The 5th year, her calf dies of coccidiosis according to the SDSU Diagnostic Lab. Thankfully, I put 753’s freemartin twin on her and she did a great job rais-ing him, didn’t skip a beat. The freemartin was delicious by the way.- Breeding back right on time, she gave birth to her 6th calf, a big nutted, highly productive Larkan son who I sold to Triebwasser Farms. That bull is still in use and excelling at 5 years of age.- 507’s next calf was a bull calf I named Midland of Volga, a son of Rito 36. This bull is like none other in the history of Cotton Angus. He matured at 2450#, and notably adds stretch and bone yet gives the femininity from his mother to his offspring. (semen available)- Her 8th pregnancy delivered Masterpiece of Volga, an E31 son. He went all sorts of crazy with a weaning index of 124 and a yearling index of 112. Master-piece was sold to Mike Langbehn on our production sale in 2015 for $15,000. Masterpiece is popular, has calves in 7 herds to date and growing. He’s produc-ing awesome big gutted cattle that will have impressive longevity. (semen avail-able)- Her 9th bull calf was sired by Rambler of Volga. Named Mc Combie of Vol-ga, he’s our freshest son in our program. I will be passing out cigars this spring to celebrate the arrival of his first calf crop. I have every confidence he’ll meet or exceed my expectations and am just giddy to get daughters in production!- 507’s 10! 10! 10th Calf in the spring of 2016 was FINALLY a heifer, and an E31 daughter at that. That heifer weaned at 618# and indexed 122. What on earth will I breed this little beauty to? Stay tuned!!- And could this be a new trend?? Her 11th calf was again a pretty little E31 daughter that I’m just as jack’d about as her full sister from last year. I hope you’re as excited as I am!
