Cosmic Origins Spectrograph November 13, 2003 Page 3 “Data contained herein is exempt from ITAR regulations under CFR 125.4(13) -- data approved for public disclosure” Hubble Space Telescope NUV and FUV Pixel Drift Test Approach NUV imaging while COS optical bench moves from ambient (20C) to thermal equilibrium –This test is run to characterize the image motion due to thermal changes within COS (OSM1 and OSM2). –This test is run without initializing the COS mechanisms, so no image motion seen can be attributed to mechanism drift. FUV and NUV helicopter test –This test is run after COS is at thermal equilibrium, so any image motion seen can be attributed to mechanism drift FUV and NUV imaging in diamond configuration –This test is to repeat the data that was collected in the thermal vac chamber. FUV imaging while COS optical bench moves from ambient (20C) to thermal equilibrium –This test is a repeat of the first test, but capturing data on the FUV channel (OSM1 only)
