Cosmetic Medicine:

Who Is It For?

Page 2: Cosmetic Medicine: Who Is It For?

So, who is cosmetic medicine for? I like to say, really, it’s just

about everyone. When I first started in the industry, when I

was just feeling my way round, my biggest worry was that

number one, I didn’t want to get hooked on the treatments

and look completely unnatural. I think that is everyone’s fear

when they dip their toes in. We are all exposed to these over

frozen, over puffed celebrities and real house wives and it

does scare people off the treatments. They think that it has to

be all or nothing.

When I was looking for a good mentor in the cosmetic

medicine field I called Dr. Chan, just because I found him on

Google like almost other people do. I asked him what sorts of

patients are having these procedures done? He said Mary, it’s

everyone. You don’t realize until you get into the industry now.

It’s not, sure the rich and famous do, but it’s not just the rich

and famous. It really is a treatment for everyone these days

because everyone likes to feel good.

Certainly I can tell you that from my patient cohort, I have

patients between the ages of eighteen and eighty. I have men

and women, I have tradesmen and mums. I have

grandmothers, professionals and non-professional people and

so it really is something that goes across the board. So I have

sort of put most people into this category.

I think something that draws people to cosmetics is that they

want to look like themselves but one day they look in the

mirror and they don’t recognize the face looking back at them.

It might be because you’ve had a stressful time, or an illness

or because it’s just your genes and you got to go the way your

mother or your grandmother. This is where cosmetic medicine

has come a long way because we can achieve natural results.

It really is something that everyone can be a part of these

days.
