I only received a few inputs but they were quite valuable. It appears that the input fall into 3 categories: communication, the jurying process as well as the structure of the general meetings. We discussed these issues at the board meeting and hope to address as many as we can in the next few months. In terms of communications, one of the inputs in- volved recognizing more formally our new members, so in the future we will make sure we recognize new members in the newsletter as well as at our general meetings. The new newsletter format has gotten generally good reviews and we are continuing to improve the process. You may already have noticed a new look to our web page and Pam is continuing to make it easier to use. We will continue reviewing the jurying process however we will not make any changes in the short term. As for our general meetings, we will keep the business portion as short as possible so that more time will be available to our speakers. Gretchen recently sent out via a pdf file the annual membership list. I hope that most of you will find this a useful format, however for those who desire a hard copy, they will be made available for a $5 fee at the general meetings. Thank You Mike Lynn Powers of Creative Catalyst Productions (CCP) of Albany. Program for the February CAG Monthly Meeting

First of all I want to thank all of you who responded to my request last month for inputs on how we can improve the operation of the Guild and better support our membership. I only received a few inputs but they were quite valuable. It appears that the input fall into 3 categories: communication, the jurying process as well as the structure of the general meetings. We discussed these issues at the board meeting and hope to address as many as we can in the next few months. In terms of communications, one of the inputs in-volved recognizing more formally our new members, so in the future we will make sure we recognize new members in the newsletter as well as at our general meetings.

Clothesline Art Sale

We have already started preparation for our 2009 Clothesline Art Sale. As a reminder, all who wish to participate in the August 1st Sale must have exhibited at one or more of our monthly display sites in this fiscal year. So, if you wish to participate and have yet to display your work, be sure to check with Margie Kinch and get signed-up on the “Hanging Art Around Town” schedule. In addition, everyone participating are expected to get involved in one or more of the planning activities necessary to make this sale the best ever. In an effort to keep each individuals effort manageable, we have broken down the Sale into the following committee’s. We need a chairperson as well as worker bees for each of the following committee’s.

• Publicity – Write press releases; notify publications, newspapers, calendar of events, etc. Our sales have deteriorated in the past couple of years, so this committee becomes increasingly important.

• Poster – Get artwork, mock-up and get posters printed and distributed.

• Signs – Update our 5 canvas signs and banner and get installed on the roads leading into town 2-weeks before the sale. And take down after sale. (Doyle will handle)

• Cashiers – We need 8 cashiers so that we have 2 cashiers at each of the four 2-hour time periods during the sale.

• Set-up – We need 2 pick-ups, and 6 or 8 people to set-up the Clothesline cables and supports.

• Take-down – We need 2 pick-ups and 6 or 8 people to take down the Clothesline and return to Arts Center.

• Cooperative Booth – New this year, we will be having a booth at the sale for members that want to have limited display and involvement during the sale.

We have plenty of back-up information from the past Chairmen of the Clothesline Sale, Norma Eaton, Molly Perry, Ken Stuart, etc. to help give us direction for each of these committee’s, so, do not be intimidated. In the past, we have had plenty of volunteers for the Set-up and Take-down committee’s, and minimal for the Publicity and Posters. We will have a Committee Sign-up sheet at the February meeting. If you are not going to be attending the February meeting, you can call Doyle Leek at 752-8646, or email him at [email protected] to sign-up.

Respectfully,Doyle Leek and Chinh LeClothesline Art Sale Co-Chairmen
