We have sent a copy home to each family so you can all see how great our school looks. Well done Year 6 and Mr Dewar and thanks for making us sound so great. We are definately the best school on the South Coast! Happy Harold has arrived... Happy Harold and his caravan arrived in the school this week and all students K-6 will participate in the important learning that happens inside this mobile classroom. Happy Harold introduces the students to the very important and manditory learning around drug education. It begins in Kindergarten by discussing the difference between different types of medication and goes all the way through to Year 6 where they learn about illegal drugs and tobacco and the effects these can have on the body. In class the students continue the conversations that are introduced in the van. The money that parents pay for their children to go into the van goes towards the running and maintenance costs associated with the van and its staff. Please ensure you get your payments in. P&C Meeting... Just a reminder that today is P&C Meeting day. The meeting starts at 5:30 in the school staff room and everyone is welcome. We have several new parents who have joined the team this year and they have all stepped up to take on roles to help us raise much needed funds for the school. We have nearly paid off the heating and cooling systems in the classrooms and we will be moving on to our next target soon, thanks to all the great efforts of our small band of parents who run these events. I will be presenting the School Management Plans, Annual School Report and Three Year plan at todays meeting. NAPLAN...next week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday... These assessments will take place on the 15th, 16th and 17th May. Students have been preparing for these assessments in class. These assessments are used by the government as a source of data gathering to help fund schools. Students at Corrimal Public School are taught through quality teaching strongly guided by current syllabus documents, additionally we provide our students with opportunities to answer questions framed in a multiple choice format so there should be no surprises in the assessment. How can you help? Encourage your children to read lots and lots of good books. The one thing that may hinder some students is not being able to read fast enough to be able to answer all the questions in the time allowed. There is a lot of reading involved in this assessment. If you have any questions or concerns, drop in and have a quick chat with your class teacher. Please remember that these assessments are only a small snapshot of your whole child. If you have some books to order, could you please place it (with payment) in the school office box. The last date to hand in orders will be this Friday 11th May. “Cadbury’s Chocolate Fundraiser”The kids were so excited to take home their chocolate carry boxes yesterday. Each Freddo cost $1 and there are 50 per box and are due back to school on the 16th June. If you do not sell all of your chocolates just bring in the money you have raised in a sealed envelope with your name and amount into the money box located in the Administration Office, and any left over chocolates in their box to the Canteen. If you sell your box and would like another one please see the Canteen. There are lots of prizes to be won, so get out there and sell to your friends, family and colleagues and don’t forget any chocolates eaten must be paid for!
