The Group places strong emphasis on sound internal controls,

appropriate risk-assessment procedures and transparency to its

shareholders and the public.

We believe that a high standard of corporate governance is key to

sustainable business development. As a public corporate entity, the

Group strives to comply with all relevant rules, regulations and laws

and adopt best practices.

The Group also has the independent internal corporate audit department

to test the effectiveness of all our internal control measures.

In addition, we have established a whistleblowing policy and system

for employees and those who deal with the Group to raise concerns, in

confidence, with the Audit Committee about possible improprieties in

any matter related to the Group.

Quality is our responsibility. When we do what is right behind the

scenes, everyone benefits.

A comprehensive supply chain risk management strategy has been

established. Suppliers and subcontractors are now selected by senior

management to ensure consistent service quality and delivery, and their

performance is regularly evaluated and recorded. Potential suppliers

and subcontractors are invited to tender in accordance with relevant

project specifications. The selection process includes completion of a

Quality, Health and Safety Questionnaire, a vital evaluation tool.

Other quality-management systems that we have deployed include

the Plan-Do-Check-Act Improvement Cycle, which ensures continuous

improvement in service quality and, thus, customer satisfaction. It

comprises:

• ISO 9001 (Quality Management System)

• ISO 14001 (Environment Management System)

• OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series)

• ISO 50001 Certification (Energy Management System)

Harmony placeour Quality Success Story

Harmony Place in Shau Kei Wan is a bold new Urban Renewal project undertaken by the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) to promote “cross-generational harmony”. The mixed-development property provides private flats and elderly rental units, enabling two generations of one family to live side by side in a harmonious and nurturing environment. We are proud to say that we completed the project on schedule, exceeding client expectations.

Management objectivesConsistent with the HKHS objectives, we aimed to achieve excellence in two crucial areas: safety, and the preservation of harmonious public relations. The team adopted a prudent risk-management approach to identify safety hazards well before work commenced. Moreover, a partnering approach was adopted to maintain harmonious relations with all stakeholders. partners in construction The partnering approach was also adopted on construction works to create an environment of cooperation conducive to mutual understanding and agreement. Quarterly workshops were attended by key stakeholders, such as client, consultants, subcontractors and the team, to identify and resolve conflicts on design and construction.

industry accoladesThe project was completed on time on 13 November 2014, within budget and in compliance with all specified standards. During the construction period, disturbance to the public was kept to a forgivable minimum. Partnering enabled us to establish a relationship of goodwill and trust between stakeholders and the neighbouring community.

In recognition of the success of our efforts, we received the “Construction Project Team of the Year – Certificate of Excellence” from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Presented at the RICS Hong Kong Awards 2015 ceremony on 13 March, the award validates our outstanding performance in the Harmony Place project.

位於筲箕灣的樂融軒為香港房屋協會第一個結合出租及出售的混合式住宅發展項目,以推廣「長幼共融」的嶄新居住模式。項目提供私人單位及租住式長者單位,以增強跨代家庭的凝聚力。集團作為主承建商,嚴格執行品質管理,依時完成項目,超越客戶的期望。

管理目標為貫徹香港房屋協會的理念,我們致力於安全及公共關係兩大重要範疇上,追求卓越。團隊採用審慎的風險管理,並於施工前進行安全識別。此外,透過建立夥伴模式,與持份者建立和諧關係。

建設合作夥伴夥伴模式同樣應用於施工上,以創造有利於合作的環境,達致各方能相互諒解及協調的果效。我們每季更會為主要持份者,如客戶,顧問,分判商和同事等舉辦講座,共同討論並解決於設計及施工上產生的矛盾。

業內嘉許樂融軒於二零一四年十一月十三日在符合預算及所有規格下,如期竣工。施工期間,我們把項目對公眾造成的滋擾減至最低。夥伴模式亦使我們與各持份者及鄰近社區建立了互信互諒的關係。

集團的努力有目共睹,為此項目於皇家特許測量師學會(RICS)三月十三日主辦的「RICS香港年度大獎2015」中榮獲「建造項目團隊獎—優異獎」,以表揚我們承建「樂融軒」的優秀表現,同時肯定了項目團隊的卓越成就。

Our employees are key to achieving our sustainability goals and long-

term business success. We try our best to provide them with a great

place to work. To this end, we have established a variety of mechanisms

to ensure that all our people enjoy a fair and healthy work environment,

where they feel valued, included, and motivated to give of their best.

Staff development is of vital importance. Our Career Development and

Advancement Plan maximise the strengths of individuals and encourage

staff to advance in their careers. Meanwhile, we encourage continuous

learning and provide a wide spectrum of training programmes for all

levels of staff.

For staff to feel valued, they must be adequately rewarded. We offer

competitive remuneration package that is based on overall market

trends and employee performance. We keep communication lines open.

Various systems are in place to encourage two-way interaction and

feedback. We also foster an environment that encourages relationship

building through activities such as staff meetings, department sharing

sessions and site visits, as well as staff newsletters.

Dream Come true! Ms loretta Choi – Senior project engineer

Each year, we recruit a number of high-calibre graduates who not only enable our rapid and exciting expansion but also sustain our mission to nurture young talent.

Ms Loretta Choi joined our Graduate Trainee Programme in 2010, as a fresh graduate from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

She first worked in the Tendering (Civil) Department, before transferring to the Project of MTR Express Rail Link-West Kowloon Terminus Station South to gain practical experience.

“Working for PYE has given me plenty of opportunities and challenges essential for career advancement. I have also taken advantage of the many training opportunities and professional experiences to grow my career. I was able to take leave to prepare for the HKIE membership examination.”

“Before the examination, our training department even arranged a mock examination for candidates and invited a former HKIE examiner to share experiences and focal points with us. These activities were very useful and helped me to prepare well.“

Loretta passed the HKIE examinations in a single sitting. She became a Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers in April 2015, and is now a Registered Engineer.

“PYE is a very dynamic employer, and provides all sorts of opportunities to not just develop new skills but boost job satisfaction.” she says.

夢想成真蔡靖桓 — 高級項目工程師

為配合集團的業務擴展及肩負扶掖後進的責任,我們每年都會聘請優秀的應屆畢業生。

畢業於香港科技大學土木及環境工程學系的蔡靖桓,於2010年透過畢業生培訓計劃加入本集團。

起初她於投標部(土木工程)工作,之後調派至參與廣深港高速鐵路西九龍總站(南)項目,獲取更多實戰經驗。

「保華建業帶給我不同的工作機會及挑戰,為我的事業發展帶來極大幫助。其開辦的培訓課程,更助我打好事業基礎。公司亦為我提供假期,讓我專心應付香港工程師學會的考試。」

「考試之前,培訓部為我們安排模擬考試,並邀請香港工程師學會的前考官分享考試心得,助我作了充足的預備。」

今年四月,蔡靖桓一次性通過了香港工程師學會的考試,成為學會的會員,現為一名註冊工程師。

「保華建業是一家充滿活力的公司,助我汲取知識,發展技能外,更為我帶來工作的滿足感。」蔡靖桓說。

We take occupational health and safety seriously. Our Safety, Health,

Environment & Quality Policy Statement (S.H.E.Q) sets out guidelines

for a safe working environment for all employees, and encourages a

“safety-first” mindset throughout the Group.

Furthermore, our Zero Accident goal is a critical initiative that records

all occupational accidents or illnesses for thorough investigation to

identify their root causes and minimise or eliminate recurrence.

In 2014, we organised a number of health, safety and environmental

training programmes for staff and subcontractor workers. Through

sharing the latest developments in safety management, industry

regulations and legislative updates, we encouraged our partners to

adhere to the highest health and safety standards.

We also participated in a new safety promotion programme jointly

initiated by the Hong Kong Construction Industry Employees General

Union and the Labour Department of the HKSAR. It involved health

checks and procedures to prevent heat stroke at construction sites.

本集團一直重視職業安全及健康。我們編寫的《安全、健康、環保及品質政策》為員工制定了締造安全工作環境的守則,並向他們灌輸「安全第一」的態度。

此外,「零意外」是集團重要的目標,我們會記錄所有職業事故或職業病,並徹底調查其因由,以減少及避免同類事件發生。

二零一四年,我們為員工及分判商舉辦了一系列有關職業健康、安全及環境管理的培訓課程。透過分享最新的安全管理知識、法例資訊及行業法規,鼓勵合作夥伴,與我們共同達至最高的健康和安全標準。

期間,我們亦參加了由香港建造業總工會與勞工處聯合舉辦的安全推廣項目,為工友作健康檢查,以防他們工作時中暑。

Kennedy town Swimming pool (phase 2)flying the Safety flag High

In undertaking the Re-provisioning of Kennedy Town Swimming Pool (Phase 2), we pledged to maintain high-quality, professional construction services and a safe environment for staff and members of the public.

The numerous incentives introduced to this end included monthly safety campaigns, a safety suggestion box, resting area for workers, personal items and safety equipment storage area, washing area and shoes-washing pools and anti-mosquitoes facilities.

Moreover, a quarterly Zero Accident ceremony at the site promoted site safety. At the event, safety awards, such as the Supervisor Safety Performance Award and Worker Safety Performance Award, were presented to staff and sub-contractors who demonstrated outstanding safety performance.

“We strive to maintain the highest safety standards at every project. The SHEQ Management Committee holds regular meetings to ensure the effectiveness of safety measures and policies across the company,” said Mr Yeung Chung Yuen, Group Safety & Environmental Manager.

堅尼地城游泳池(第二期)高舉安全旗幟

堅尼地城游泳池第二期項目自動工以來,致力維持高品質和專業的承建服務,並為員工和公眾提供一個安全的環境。

為此,集團推行了一系列的安全措施,包括每月舉行主題式安全推廣活動、設工地安全意見箱、工人休息區、個人物品及安全用品存放區、洗手區和洗鞋池,以及安裝滅蚊設備等。

此外,工地亦於每季舉行「零意外慶祝典禮」,期間頒發多個安全獎項,包括「最佳安全表現管工獎」和「最佳安全表現工友獎」等,以嘉許安全表現出眾的員工及分判商工友。

集團安全及環境經理楊中源先生表示:「我們於每一個項目皆致力維持最高的安全標準,而SHEQ管理委員會亦會定期召開會議,以確保集團所有安全措施和政策運作順暢。」

The Group places equal importance on construction and conservation.

Throughout the year, we continued to review and finetune all our

processes to make them even more environmentally responsible. Our

daily operations adhered to a strict environmental policy that ensured

green procedures across the board.

Environmental sustainability is a crucial guiding principle in all

our construction projects. We actively promoted green buildings

through the use of sustainable materials, energy-efficient design, and

environmentally-friendly landscaping fixtures and fittings wherever

applicable.

The Group frequently partnered community and environmental

organisations to educate and encourage our associates and sub-

contractors to conserve natural resources.

本集團對建造及保育同樣重視。過去一年,我們繼續檢討和微調所有的施工程序,務求肩負起更多環保責任。我們的日常營運嚴格遵守所訂立的環保政策,確保集團上下都貫徹執行環保程序。

Kai tak fire Station Development projectGreen Construction Goals achieved The Kai Tak Fire Station Development project was implemented by the Architectural Services Department. It involved construction of a six-storey building and a single-storey building with seven-meter high headroom.

The buildings incorporated a number of greening and environmentally-harmonious features. For example, natural daylight was introduced into the interior through large windows and skylights composed of heat insulating glass, solar tubes and balconies. Sun-shading fins were installed on the west-facing external wall to minimise power consumption for air-conditioning.

As the main contractor, we applied principles of energy and resource efficiency right from the start of the bidding process. A number of low-carbon, waste reduction and pollution prevention practices were set in place. Systematic and scientific processes were adopted during construction. For instance, wastewater treatment facilities on site removed excessive suspended particles and ensured the PH level of the waste water was of a suitable level before being discharged into the public drainage network.

Our stringent adherence to sustainability criteria met various sustainability credit ratings, including the BEAM Plus NB Provisional Platinum Rating, accredited by the Hong Kong Green Building Council, and the Asia Pacific Project Management Achievement – Community Service and/or Regional Development Award from the Asia Pacific Federation of Project Management (APFPM). The project also topped the Hong Kong Institute of Project Management (HKIPM) Management Achievement Awards in three categories: Project of the Year 2014, Construction and Engineering, and Community Service and/or Regional Development. The ratings endorse our ability to meet the challenges of constructing a certified green building.

啟德消防局發展項目達成環保建築目標

啟德消防局為建築署轄下的項目。項目包括興建一座樓高6層的主樓及一座淨高7米的裝備倉。

該項目揉合了多個「綠化」及「和諧」的建築特色。例如,主樓的大型窗戶和天窗以隔熱玻璃組成、天窗面有太陽能導管,加上露台,為室內引入更多的天然光。西面外牆設遮光條飾物,以有效減少空調的耗電量。

本集團作為主承建商,於投標階段已貫徹有效運用資源的原則。我們制定一系列的低碳、減廢及防污措施,並於施工時採用系統化及科學化的方法執行。例如,於工地設置廢水處理系統,確保廢水中的過量懸浮粒子已被清除,及其酸鹼值已調較至合適水平後,方才排往下水道。

因著集團對可持續發展理念的堅持,啟德消防局獲得多個認證及獎項,當中包括由香港綠色建築議會頒發的「綠建環評新建建築」鉑金級認證;亞太項目管理聯盟頒發的「亞太項目管理大獎:社區服務及區域發展—大獎」,以及由香港項目管理學會頒發的「2014年度項目大獎」、「建造及工程組別大獎」以及「社區服務及區域發展大獎」,足見集團有充分的能力克服種種挑戰,達成所訂立的綠色建築目標。

The Group cares about society and gladly participates in activities that

promote harmony and wellness. Throughout the year, we reached

out to the greater community through involvement in corporate

programmes, volunteering, donations and sponsorships, making good

use of our business strengths and resources.

We were privileged to organise and attend over 10 community

activities, large and small, in cooperation with numerous non-profit

and governmental organisations, touching the lives of a wide range of

people.

For instance, our volunteer team joined the Neighbourhood Advice-

Action Council to visit a group of elders in Lam Tei, Tuen Mun. It is

our way to thank our senior citizens for the significant contribution

they have made to the development of Hong Kong. We paid two visits

to over 20 elderly people, sharing and creating happy moments with

them.

Steps were also taken to provide a support network for families of

construction workers suffering hardships resulting from job-related

ailments. “A Summer Fun Day” on 2 August 2014 was co-organised

by the Group and the Lighthouse Club. Our volunteer team joined 12

families on a visit to the MTR Super Operations Control Centre (OCC)

in Tsing Yi and then sat down to a buffet lunch at hotel.

To train talent for the industry, the Group sponsored various

programmes including “Engineering and You”, organised by The Hong

Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), and “Build a Better Hong Kong”,

organised by the Construction Industry Council.

本集團關心社區並熱心參與所有能促進社區和諧的活動。過去一年,我們善用業務優勢及資源參與了不同的企業活動、義工服務、捐款及贊助項目。

我們很高興能夥拍多間非牟利及政府機構,舉辦及參與了超過10個大大小小,形形色色的社區活動,接觸來自社會不同階層有需要的人士。

其中,集團的義工隊與鄰舍輔導會合作,探訪一群居住於屯門藍地的長者。我們希望透過活動,向這群對香港發展貢獻良多的長者,表達深深的謝意。兩次活動中,集團義工隊共探訪了超過20名長者,與他們度過了美好和歡樂的時光。

集團的社區服務亦惠及因工受傷或受長期病患困擾的建造業工友及其家屬。二零一四年八月二日,集團與明建會合辦「保華奇趣樂滿Fun」活動,我們的義工隊與明建會12個家庭一同參觀港鐵位於青衣站的超級控制中心,及後到酒店享用自助午餐。

此外,為協助業界培育專才,集團亦贊助了不同的講座和活動,包括由香港工程師學會主辦的「工程與你」,以及由建造業議會舉辦的「建造香港好明天」。

Greening lamma a Breath of fresh air Invited by the Hans Anderson Club, our volunteer team organised two visits to the Lamma Island Centre to help with some gardening.

Guided by the club staff, they rolled up their sleeves and weeded the land, tilled soil and even built a fence. Although the tasks were not too difficult, they were quite strenuous. The new hands completed everything in just a few hours. Tired but happy, they all agreed that it was very meaningful. The fresh air and open spaces of the countryside were also a delight.

The Hong Kong-based Hans Anderson Club is a non-profit organisation that provides services for needy children. Our volunteer team will continue to support their community service activities, all for the good cause of working towards a happy and healthy society and collecting more unforgettable memories along the way.

taking new year Cheer to elders Lunar New Year, the most cherished festival of the Chinese, brings together family and friends for mutual blessings. To share the joy of the season, our volunteer team co-organised a pre-new year visit with the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council on 31 January 2015 to visit elders living in Lam Tei, Tuen Mun.

They grouped into teams to visit about 10 elders. Each team spent time chatting with the elderly, and gifting them bags of New Year presents. The Team were happy to see the smiles on the faces of the elderly. When time came to say “goodbye”, they left with the joy of knowing that it is more blessed to give than to receive.

綠化南丫倍清新應安徒生會的邀請,我們的義工隊先後兩次前往南丫島,協助其教學花園進行的園藝和清潔工作。

在中心職員的指導下,義工們捲起衣袖,在炎炎的天氣下,花了數個小時進行除草、翻土及建造欄柵等工作。縱然此任務相當消耗體力,但義工們都認為活動甚具意義,而郊外的清新空氣及廣闊空間更將他們平日積累的緊張疲憊一掃而空。

安徒生會為香港一家致力為基層兒童提供服務之非牟利機構。保華義工隊將繼續支持該會的社區服務活動,致力建設一個愉快及健康的社區,締造更多難忘的回憶。

保華義工隊新年探訪農曆新年為中國人一年之中最重視的日子,家人和朋友必定會歡聚一番,享受天倫之樂。為了讓長者感受新年的歡樂氣氛,集團義工隊與鄰舍輔導會於二零一五年一月三十一日合作組織了一次探訪屯門藍地長者的活動。

當日,義工隊員分成數組,共探訪了約10位長者。除了與長者們聊天及表達關懷外,義工隊更細心地為他們準備了裝滿賀年禮品的福袋,滿載新年氣氛。看見長者的歡欣笑容,義工們都深深體會「施比受更有福」的道理。
